Thanks!!!! Assembly looks pretty strait forward. Just gotta pull all of the screws out of the pre-assembled frame to locktite them.

Get an electric screwdriver with a hex driver attachment. I will attest that doing it all by hand wears you out (-:

I'll throw my recommendations out there for an electric screwdriver. You want something with an adjustable clutch with a very low torque setting. This is the combo I use:
http://edsracingproductsstore.com/in...&productId=162 http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-DB3DL-.../dp/B000H2P05Q When I first got it I set the clutch at 3-4 and finished to final tightness with my hand tools. Once you use it for awhile you learn how all the clutch settings effect the final torque. I'm at the point where I know all the settings for metal, plastic, and wood. This setup has been one of the best investments I've made into this hobby. My hands cramp a lot during a build and the electric screwdriver really eliminates the fatigue. Here are some alternatives if you can't find the Hitachi in stock http://www.amazon.com/Makita-DF010DS...ef=pd_sim_hi_7 http://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-0490...ef=pd_sim_hi_7 |

I fully dig my Milwaukee; came with two batteries. Use it a lot, both extraction (speed == 2) and assembly, for nice consistent tightness w/ no effort.
I don't trust it into plastic parts, but no worries at all into aluminum.

Ping, that Hitachi is crazy ugly! Pay extra for that.
I use maverik bits; perfect so far. Get a handle for them, and now you have a second hex driver for whatever feathering spindle you may happen to have.

Ping,
Is this the new model of the driver you have? http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-DB3DL2...7648144&sr=8-2 |

Basing this on prop pitch speed logic.

I'm no aero-engineer, but I doubt it translates over very well between the two helis mentioned, just by using the relationship of tip speeds. The 813mm blades have a wider chord than the 693's, power to disc loading relationships will be different, and a "scaling effect" reality with anything that flies, is that if something is twice as large, it usually weights in at more than twice the weight.
It is my opinion that the limitations placed on the machine in the manual are there because of lawyers and liability reasons, not because the machine magically becomes unsafe if the limits are exceeded. (-: Dave |

Dave, what is the tailratio on the XX and the bolt hole to bolt hole distance on the XX's tailgrips?
I do remember some people put 115 tails on the 700E in order to get right tail authority.. The XX swings even larger blades at even lower rpm.. wich means even less authority

XXtreme's tail ratio is 5:1(appears to be exactly that by counting the tail's revolutions for one of the head's).
Tail blade grip bolt hole spacing is 83mm. Uli R. was flying 130mm tails on one of his XXtremes in 2011 while testing low head speed set-ups. He said he liked it. I don't know what he runs as a general rule. But generally speaking, we've found the 115's able to deliver all the tail authority needed. Your comment: "I do remember some people put 115 tails on the 700E in order to get right tail authority." All I can say is, what others do with other models with different tail designs and drive systems is of course up to them. But such actions by them on a different model and design should not immediately make you think the XXtreme's tail on 115's is lacking. (-: Dave |

Just for comparison, the tail blade bolt spacing on my Synergy E7 is 66mm

Was just thinking. if the tail speed was lower, it would get into authority problems much easier with lower rpm and 800 blades.. 5:1 sounds good, together with the big bolt spacing, it sounds great should give enough authority...

So, how many hours do you think it will take to build?

Dont like the way batteries are attached - looks like it would take forever to close 6 velcro straps. Surprised that Mikado didn"t come up with a quicker alternative.
