540 version is for speed oriented TDR. It will require more amps for the same torque as a custom 500 but will also allow smaller pinion so gearing is lighter for the motor.

Anyone deal with a broken off bolt head which holds the stator to the motor housing? Found that my Pyro 700 has the "condition". How would you remove it? Its pretty small to work with, can't use dremel to do a slot, drilling out may not be a good idea (no drill press either). Kinda sucks that is came out of the box like that.

I use a turned tool with 3 different diameters.
the widest has the outside diameter of statorholder the next step has the lengt and diameter of bearing. the third has the diameter of the statorholder hole and is 3cm long. the biggest diameter has a filed slot for the screw. so you prevent any damage on statorholderpart (bearing sit) by slanting the tool or deforming the alauminium in the best way. the rest I do like bert just wrote. |

Kontonik PYRO-700 build thread
Just spectating. With my crash record, I don't think my buddy feels to comfortable about letting me fly his babies. Lol

Has anyone measured the weight of a rewound Pyro 700?
I am looking to wind one at 6+6 1.32mm and I am interested in the final weight before I buy one. |

Thanks. A bit off the thread topic but I am looking at the lightest possible motor for a 700 project, but capable of good power. I immediately thought Pyro but are there any other suggestions?

I do not think you will find another motor that can produce the same power for the weight of the Pyro.
It is known for its light construction. You just have to be aware of the 6mm through shaft: counterbearing needed. A motor that comes close is the HK-4225 but it tends to run very hot. However it is mechanically more robust.

I thought so. Thanks for the info. I will go with pyro since I have never owned one.

Nice Dekker, now we'll see if the new One Way Bearing in the 690SX will hold up.

@ bert
very nice done, but nothing new. @heliFX seems, it only depends on what's your personal interpretation of "lots of power" you should risk a look on the motors of the winner list of 2014 heli masters in professional and advanced class. |

true enough ... I suppose for all out power I must agree with those choices however
it may depend on flying style and overall power output requirements Agreed the P700 is not going to win any speed run awards
