Question What kind of oil used in building the 450 Pro ?

When looking through the 450 Pro manual, it mentioned that oil to be used in building the head - feathering shaft and damper. My kit did not come with any oil. What kind of oil should be using ?

Thanks,

I think it's grease, isn't it? Lots of people use white lithium grease but really, any will do. I use a good bicycle grease for those spots as well as my thrust bearings Be careful not to get any on threads or into the ends of the feathering shaft or your threadlock won't work well (or worse, at all).

Got it. I will get the lithium grease.

Thanks,

The kit should have come with a tube of clear looking silicon grease?
Align supplies that as other grease can effect rubber like the dampers.

Bob,

My Pro kit did not come with any grease at all, only 2 small bottles of thread lockers (green and blue). That's why I asked.

BTW, I am thinking of getting Triflow synthetic grease - clear color and should be rubber/plastic safe.

Thanks,

Use Triflow or Rock n Roll.

I like Rock n Roll because it doesn't get sticky and messy. It's all about the bicycle grease and oils

If you get Triflow, I find that the little pen sized one is good. Since you're only using it a drop at a time it lasts quite a while and takes up very little space in your toolbox.

Yes, I have the pen size for lub. my FP helicopter's bearings. However, for the thrust bearing, I am going to use Triflow synthetic grease. Triflow website sells it for $10 per 3 oz tube. I got mine from local bicycle store for $$6.99. Synthetic grease is not supposed to harm the rubber too.

Thanks,

I use Triflow oil (pen lubricator) and Scorpion oil on the bearings, Triflow grease on the trust bearings, and a silicone spray lubricant for belt deressing (if the machine has a belt drive).

Thanks,
I feel your pain. As a newbie building my Sport super combo in January I had the same frustration (no grease in kit and what to use?) and the wording in my manual is "Oil" not grease. Just purchased a Pro kit and no "oil" or grease either.

I've been using white lithium grease this entire time which will hopefully has not done too much damage to my dampers.

Sigh....the little things that make a big difference, usually learned the hard way but not for lack of trying.
