Default How do you pay the bills?

Hey Bob, thanks for all the time you put in helping us all. I'm curious as to what you do to make a living? If I had to guess I'd say your a teacher or maybe a radio announcer as you have the voice for it.

I am a back office solutions engineering manager for Xerox. I run a small team of .Net developers that honestly kick arse creating solutions! Amazing what a small focused team can do in a BIG company!
I started with Xerox in 1979 as a service tech in the field (I was 19). Moved to technical support hotline in 1983. Became a field Service Manager in 1987 - 1990. Became a Product Service manager in 1991 and helped develop things like Remote Services and other technologies around service. In 1998 I became involved with software and licensing. In 2002 I became a manager running a small team of developers making solutions to help the business earn revenue with software and have been doing that to this day.

This is my 31st year with Xerox and I just turned 50.

Many have asked my WHY I did not go find another job making more.... Honestly I love working for Xerox and my generation was committed to a carrier with one company. I am now hoping to make it to retirement at 62 but not sure how well that is going to work out.... We all know what is going on with the economy and it has effected companies like Xerox. I am not afraid though as even though I am 50, I feel like a viable human being that can get work if I need to.

FYI, my teaching skills that I guess I have (I had no idea I had them honestly until now) came from my Mother. She was a High School English teacher. During WWII she taught the Japanese imprisoned people in Hawaii the English language. Before she died she had Japaneese Americans that stayed in contact with her all this time. She loved them like sons honestly.

What happened to cruising? I recall awhile back you saying you were preparing to do some serious sailing.

Bob,

Just getting up a head of steam with heli's, building my first 700, and your videos have been an invaluable resource. Thanks VERY much.

Here's my ?

Can you possibly rate 2 or 3 things that you have learned through experience that you wish you had known as a novice, not necessarily a rank beginner, that would have made the biggest difference for you in either flying or maintaining your heli's?

Thanks, Steve

Don't worry Bob, you got skills. Align ought to be paying you as it is. No telling how many people would have dropped out of this hobby if it weren't for your videos. Instead they move up to bigger and better.

THE SIMULATOR! PERIOD....... I could not be flying around doing circuits inverted without it! When I left the hobby in about 1986 I could not do nose in hover! When got back into it with the sim I had it NAILED in a week and inverted in a few weeks.

NO DOUBT what has made people fly well quickly is the sim! Period!

Must have been some weirdo Swedes that haven't been to a "kräftskiva"?! When the season starts millions of Swedes feast on these little critters.
