Failed to get my order from Option Hobby, seems there web site is still up but they are not around any more. Ordered a bunch of 550 main gears today so I will have to convert back to .7 mod when I run out of Fusion 50 main gears. Some key parts are starting to get scarce. These gears should keep me up and running for a while.

I've had very little trouble with main gear as of yet. I'm just starting to get a little more aggressive tho. I've heard that they can be a weak link. I ordered some of the fusion gears and pinions but haven't had to use them yet.

Just checked, looks like they only have the VERY expensive CNC gears in stock...

Thanks for the reply, they have been out of the black main gears for a while, only have the expensive cnc delrin gears which I am not interested in right now. Option hobby is the only place I have found that shows stock however they are not in business now even though the site will accept an order.

I ordered a bunch of O550 gears from HD, really the only thing I was short of. I converted to the .8 mod Fusion 50 gears a while ago so did not have any of the .7 mod 550 gears. Will convert back to .7 mod again when I run out of the Fusion gears.

They were better than the .7 mod gears, however if you are not into 3D with hard reversals you should not strip an O550 main gear if you have the lash set tight (zero lash at the high point). Also not having your governor set up right where you get a lot of chatter can strip one on occasion.
