That's awesome
How long have you been flying? Do you have timing problems on the sims? Last edited by 03silver; 09-07-2011 at 12:48 PM.. |

heli's since january, haven't flown for 7 years before that and it was planks back then, i'm 48 now but still get a kick out of it, yes i cannot do it on the sim, maybe i should try harder, i feel that the sim is good for practicing things i can do in real life but i need to attempt it first in real life and then see how it feels on the sim, i'm not getting my point across very well but i have trouble with depth perception on the sim that i don't have in real life

Congrats, man! If you have the time/inclination, describe for us what you figured out. My tic toc timing is "obviously wrong" too!

Are you falling, or rising when you try them? If you are falling, try switching your pitch sooner in respect to your elevator movement (so you are getting more lift before the heli is too verticle, and the opposite goes if your are raising. Start with a lot of travel so that you can really focus on the ends where collective management and elevator timing are most important. Try "pausing" the heli for a split second at a 45 degree angle when you tic, before switching to the toc where you will try to also pause the heli at the same angle. You really gotta ease in and out of collective to smooth it out. As you get better with the collective, your timing will also be improving, and you will be able to shorten up the travel and do faster tic-tocs. |

i started with the slow approach pausing at the inverted part and then pushing forward and pausing, its when i missed out the pause that i got into trouble and started plummiting toward the ground, sometimes i was quick enough to pull(or push) out of it, today i tried again and it just clicked it was climbing but after a while it stopped climbing until i decided to stop it. it may go horribly wrong tomorrow when i try it again but today it was good. a bit like when i try a funnel sometimes they are just locked in and i don't have to correct anything other times i'm fighting it all the way round, i wish i knew the secret

Great job bud. The timing is hard to grasp that is for sure.

Hey guys, about 2 months ago i got my first heli which is a trex 450 pro and ive been trying some pretty fun stuff. Flips, rolls and inverted hovering are most of what ive been doing other than sport flying but the other day i started my tic tocs and i just cant get them right. I cant do them in the sim either. In real life i fall toward the ground and i cant get very many tic tocs in because i start from only abut 20 feet off the deck. Anyway, ill keep working in the sim and real life but i just figured this was the right thread to post my tic toc issues.

\ | / If the tic-toc is broken down into those 3 positions, you need more pitch at the angled positions, and be sure you are switching to the opposite pitch at, or just slightly before you get to the mid-point where you are completely verticle if you want to maintain altitude. Hope this makes sense. |

Another way to explain it (and much more to the point), you should begin switching your pitch slightly ahead/before your elevator. If you are flip-flopping your pitch and elevator back and forth at the very same time it just won't work.
If you are just pointing up and trying to force out some quick tic-tocs, instead start with a long travel distance until you get your collective management down in the transitions from one end to the other: \................|................/ ^ ---------60ft--------- ^ Focus on the "ends" of the maneuver (where the arrows are pointing). As timing and collective build, work towards shortening the distance traveled, but always remember the key is in the transition, which is really hard to learn if you go straight into trying short and quick tic-tocs. I put 60ft there, just because it seems like a good distance to start with so you can really concentrate on collective. |

Josh[/QUOTE]that was my issue exactly until i slowed them down and made them bigger concentrating on keeping the heli in the air then one day it just clicked, follow what dgeorge is saying because that is basically what i did, and start up higher it gives you more time to bail out, as you already know when they go wrong they go wrong quickly, |
