Default A123 cells

I am thinking of making some rx packs and wondered if anyone knows of any suppliers of genuine A123 cells.
There are some on HK but not sure on the quality.
Cheers.

The US place www.buyA123batteries.com is a genuine place. I just bought 14 of the new 2500 "B" cells from them. They seem authentic and more importantly they test authentic.

Don't confuse the 2500 cell designation "B" with the salvage B grade cells. The part number of the new 2500 cell is ANR26650M1B. They also have black dots around the button top negative end. They arrived storage charged at exactly 3.30 volts each in a Styrofoam hole shipping carton. You will have to solder or have your own spot welder.

Default A123 cells

Four Stroker - Can the A123 cells be soldered now? I recall reading somewhere the buttons, or design, made soldering impractical.

Well I make receiver and starter packs out of them by soldering. Not motor packs. So I only need maybe a 3~5 mm dia. blob of solder on there. The button end is a piece of cake. The can end requires some work. I barf up the surface with the flat side of a Dremel cutoff tool. Then put some rosin flux on there and solder a tinned AWG 18 wire with a 100 W iron as quickly as I can - 3 seconds. Seems to work fine. Big iron big tip.

Order some extra cells and practice. I have built about 8 packs this way. No failures yet. I cycle them 10 times before using them. The last cycle I charge and wait a week before discharging. The new cells put out about 2200 mAh down to 3.0 volts at 2.5 Amps. The clear stuff is Permatex flowable silicone windshield sealer which is non-corrosive.
