Depends on the brand

Gaui does tip to tip
I think edge does hole to tip

The Edges I had were overall length. The overwhelming majority lists overall length. The only brands I know which advertise bolt hole to tip are E-Flite (Blade), ThunderPower and Rail Blades.

All blades I've ever bought measure from center of bolt hole to tip of blade, i.e. as advertised :

- Several sets of old and new version SAB 620mm and 710mm, also a set of 705mm FAI's

- Several sets of GCT/ Mavrikk 620mm and 710mm.

- Rotortech F3C 720mm

- Radix FBL 710mm

- OEM Henseleit "Rigid" 710mm

- Vario Helicopter 725mm

I have limited experience with shorter blades, but have noticed that some blades advertised as 325mm actually measures 315mm. Measured correctly...

The total length is of little significance, it's the effective length that makes a difference, and that is from bolt hole to tip.

Exactly. Unfortunately, advertisers strive to Deceive, Inveigle, and Obfuscate.

IMHO, the proper way is from the center of the bolt hole to the outer tip of the blade - that is what the working length of the blade is.

Is this a great hobby or what? Not only am I learning to fly expensive toys, but I am also learning new words. Thanks Rick! Maybe we can start a new thread that posts a "Word of the Day."

My experience thus far was with shorter blades. Seems like the larger blades are listed correctly...

I've had Edge, Radix and SAB "325"s which only measured ~315 bolt-hole to tip.

This is why I only use ThunderPower 325s on my B450 now. I really think the extra 10mm makes a difference. Still deciding which to use on my Fusion 50...

I have the 335mm "pro 3d" white carbon blades. They actually measure 325 from bolt-hole. I like them a lot over the fakes that are 315.

wow.. thanks all, did not expect so many replies. More confused now but seem to think the larger blades are measured hole-to-tip, while the small blades tip-tp-tip
I asked because I'm running a 600 class on 6s power and the motor is cooler with the 550mm blades. The 600mm blades will be my cool weather blades, and I like the "floaty" way the heli feels, like it's weightless
