Default Recommend me my first 450 helicopter !

I have been flying various sizes of helicopters for about 6 months now, with the occasional practice on my simulator(Phoenix). But I think it's time for an upgrade.
What would you guys recommend as a first 450 helicopter? I don't mind if I have to build it, as long as I have a list of parts or guides I could follow. Plus is it possible to have it so I can flip a switch on my helicopter or something and have it switch to or from fixed pitch?? It would help a lot in the first couple of flights by giving me an idea of it's power capabilities. I do not mind if it is flybarless or not, but I would prefer it as cheap as can be due to my tight budget.

I won't be doing any rough or tough things with it apart from crashing which I will probably do a fair few times at first

Thanks in advance,

-John

Would it be cheaper to build that with a less powerful motor?

I would not buy that one you have selected on ebay. i would buy an align 450 pro, or if you wanted a clone, Tarot is the way i would go. havent owned any tarot stuuf, but have heard and seen good this quite often. im sure tarot has a super combo package, like align. if you have a remote, i would buy a combo kit, if yo dont have a remote, that previously mentioned align 450 plus dfc kit may be a good option. also, the blade 450x i have personally seen fly quite competitively. i believe it can come in a combo with a dx6i remote? i would definently go flybarless. it will be a bit more headache till you understand it. but the stability is worth it. the wind fighting capabilities is worth it. less parts to replace in a crash. as you advance, you will just want flybarless anyway. if you go align, id go pro, not the sport.

I'm looking at that, what transmitter would go with it? Preferably cheap with a fair quality.

Have you flown collective pitch? The sim is a great tool.

If this is your first CP, might consider something like an mCPX first. Every crash on a 450 will cost parts, and time to rebuild.

You won't make a 450 into a self stabilizing fixed pitch, like an mSR, if that's what you're asking.

Hi John,

I've been following your other thread. Has your budget changed? A Align or Tarot 450 is a great option. Considering all the extra cost into going into this class you may want to stay with your original choice of a micro.

I have well over $700 invested in my Trex 450 Pro DFC build. This is without taking anything out of the Box's and building yet. Along with this add the cost of the tools and other misc items I have gathered since joining the Hobby!

Flying and learning the radio settings is a learning curve as it is. Keep on with your research.

Going back to many of the recommendations of many of the other members. IMO since this is your first CP. Stick with the micro CP models and Sims mentioned.

This hobby will thin your Wallet!!!

Nice choice, parts are readily available. Here is a better price.

This is a Great Kit! "Keep in Mind no Electronics Included"

To get a better idea of what to get ClubHeli had this Kit with No Radio, Receiver or Battery Included:

I Highly recommend reading this thread!!! It should answer a lot of Questions about the Tarot Kit. How to select hardware and to build a 450

Yes it has slightly changed for something a little more wind resistant

I bought a Tarot 450 Pro V2 FBL Carbon kit (ebay) 115$.

But then I bought
Lynx 6s carbon frame and battery mount
DFC head and swash
enough stuff to convert to belt drive
Fusno canopy
Lynx blades
Metal rear servo mount and rotation bracket
a bunch of smaller parts and spares.

As things have turned out I'm probably only going to need a few parts from the kit

bearing blocks (for now), tail boom & supports, skids, fins and some links

I should probably just buy the rest and sell the kit whole

Quite funny really.
