Default anyone have experience with the HW 60 amp?

So after about 30 flights on my rebuild, I checked the logs on the castle 100 and it's very apparent that a 60 amp will be more than enough and will be 70 grams lighter. My highest spikes were about 70 amps and even that was rare.

So I picked up a hw 60 for cheap in the classifieds and I'm curious how you guys are running them? Just flat curves? I would really like to run it on the ikon external gov, but I don't know if it has quick enough throttle response. No big deal if I end up just running 100% flat, but I think I would get a little more flight time governing to 2800 or so. What do you guys think?

I have been running this ESC with stock motor for over a year now, never had a problem. I can check my setup later on when I get a chance.

Awesome thanks! Mostly I'm just wondering if it has quick enough response for external gov. I probably won't use the internal hw gov. I'm totally fine with flat 100 if nothing else, but it would be sweet if I could use the ikon gov.

I've been using the internal gov and flat throttle curves. I think I'm running like 90% in idle 2. Works for me!

I've been on the HW 60 since I got my Atom in 2009. I run the stock 9t pinion and and use the internal BEC with JR Z3650 servos and 8900G tail servo with no issues. I run flat throttle curves for the most part but have started putting more of a V-curve in because I seem to burning a bit less energy that way without losing any performance.

I run 18.5° timing since 22.2° is a little hotter without much better power (although that's the calculated "sweet spot" for the motor) and 15° left a bit much to be desired.

I personally don't like to use governors so I can't really comment on this one, but I do know that using a Vbar and HW seems to be a match made in heaven. I'm not sure how well the Ikon gov works (again, I don't much care for governors) but I would assume with some tweaking it would be really good.

I run the 60a with the internal governor and it works ok. I am using the 10t pinion with wide chord main blades and it doesn't even get warm. It is my most power to weight heli I have.

I'm with Tim (Skunkworx) on this one.

I have been running the stock HobbyWing since late summer of 2008 when I got my first Atom 500. It has been a very good unit.

I am running "U" shaped throttle curves and Cyclic to Throttle mixing on mine, resulting in very consistent RPM during aerobatics.

I am glad that Tim remembered the timing, because there is no way I could remember it from that long ago.

I have a very early HobbyWing ESC, which had a very low amp BEC (3 amps, as I recall), so when I converted to FBL, I installed a WR Hercules Super BEC.

Well, YMMV. I burned up two HW 60A Platinum ESCs, one of them between my Atom's first and second flights. The V3 ones should be better.
