I've never owned a Gaui. I like the X7. I'm not quite sure where this one fits in the normal size of things. It is an interesting design. I also like the Warp, which seems a little more unique, but my eyesight and reflexes are better suited to the larger helis these days. The little ones are like bumble-bees on crack. ;-)

In my opinion it isn't. The electronics you get are mediocre, ESC has inadequate BEC, blades are low quality and motor is underpowered. BeastX is decent FBL unit. The quality of the airframe is on par with other middle market brands, it's definitely not "high end". Gaui has great marketing though and they appear to people as "high end", which they aren't. I have seen a couple of Gauis, seen them crash, flown them and seen them in a kit form - because I really wanted one, but after lots of research, I'd not buy a combo, because of low end electronics included, and their airframes are overpriced. Maybe US prices are lower, but UK prices are way too high. It's £899 for X5 premium combo, no thanks. Having said that I'll definitely check X3 out, if they price it as a low/middle end model which it is, not as high end, which they want it to be.

My 1st run kit was almost flawless (there was one minor issue that I was able to remedy without parts) and flew perfectly out of the box. There were some minor issues with tolerances but nothing 'serous' as you put it. When you compare the number of folks that had issues with 1st run kits vs. the sheer volume of 1st run kits put out, there weren't as many issues as one would lead you to believe. There are more customers who didn't have issues than those who did. Regardless, we've corrected these issues with tolerances and it sounds like everyone is having blast and loving their Warp 360s. Just peek at the Compass Warp 360 forum and I'm sure this will be pretty evident. |

Edit: forgot about some people having booms break, which has also been corrected.

Never an A-model, even the first batch Goblin had serious issues, all corrected. Hell my uber expensive Banshee had issues, that's why I wait for the Ver2 kits. It seems that even the biggest manufacturers out there rely on us to do the field testing, some upgrade the parts for free, others just bring out a version two kit??????

I hope it's not porky and overpowered. That's what's stopping me from pulling the trigger on the new x4. One gob 500 is enough

Gaui reveal new X3

It is probably just that not every possible situation can be tested. It is simply impossible for 10 to 20 test pilots to make every mistake and test every configuration that the first 100.000 customers might use. It is also very hard to find weak spots in quality control, in 20 kits versus 100.000. With 20 kits it is very possible to get lucky on every part, on 100.000 kits it is very likely somebody is absolutely not lucky and has some bad parts. It's all about scaling. This is the reason I would never buy a newly released model or component (heli, transmitter, FBL controller, ESC), or even a second batch model. From what I can see it usually takes 6 months or more to iron out kinks not only in the model but in the manufacturing process or, in the case of electronics, the software/firmware that runs inside them.

What FBL heli did you start with and what FB heli did you replace it with?

Yeah, you just have a pre-tainted view on FBL. Not saying its a must have for everyone but when you fly a nice heli with a good FBL unit you won't be sad about it.

I'm the opposite. You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming to go back to FB.

Even though I'm a supporter of those who choose FB I have to say you did not have a good FBL platform. Going from that to a 500 size is really not a fair comparison. I bet if you tried a decent FBL unit on your 500 you would wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
