See guys, just another reminder that others are just searching through setup figures without any real understanding as to why?
Today I spent a countless hours trying to sort my gov hand off on my 800 gob. Went from heli slow to med, then to fast. Got the gov to hand off only one time, then never again. YGE 160 and Sk720B. I continually dropped my low/high figures until they bottomed out at 10/10, and I still have a vertical gov ramp? How is this even possible?

Just a bit to add...
With my new 40-40-50 numbers and a smooth spoolup... Every once in a while, I still get my huge overspeed at the start. I was going to delete the current settings in the SK then re-load the settings back into it just to see if it works. Seems weird that it will overspeed about 10% of the time. Also, my overspeed is huge. Well above IU2 HS which is like 300RPM more than normal mode. I'd guess I'm pushing about 2500RPM overspeed with a 1800- 2100 programmed RPM. Now, I haven't tried it yet... But it seems like it still reads the old numbers when it overspeeds. I'm just guessing that erasing it the. Reloading it may clear it out??? I'll let you know. |

=] looks like you have a sensor issue there Randy? maybe wiring or something? try an external HW see how that goes?!

Thanks Georgi, it is running the HW sensor, but I will check it all out. Mucho appreciated! Back to basics here? Odd, it does hand over when double spooled though. Then locks in tight. Just checked it since it is still on the table, rpm sensor toggle is clean and showing. Interesting, it is a black dot now instead of the blue, must be the software change?
Omerco, it is on fast spool? Tried all three esc ramps in all the various settings along with virtually every gov setting from top to bottom. Spent numerous days on this one, and packs, missed a few outings due to this. On this 800, the heli spins on the pad and does a 180 during this spool at times it hits hard. Those big blades take some torque and it is impossible to get a quicker hs ramp without biffing gears. So I limit this to heli fast at 4%, but may try auto out of sheer desperation. This isn't my issue I feel? The gov ramps vertical no matter what settings I push here?

Another question? Since I am curious with no answer. When does the hand off occur? Low or high?
Next, a pilot with a Gasser Gob 700 just emailed me and is curious as to why his Sk540 gov only shows it hitting the magnet every other revolution? Done on view looking for the rpm sig toggle light.

I had similar RPM anomaly after updating my logo to rev 4.07? I will check again tomorrow what i get. Randy I'm sorry but I lost you somewhere - I thought you had fair results with the 80 low 120 high and heli fast? what is your setting now?

Hey Guys ,
This is just a little bit of info on LMH question on the Gasser sensor. It is on a Whiplash Gasser with a Zenoah RC290 with gear ratio of 6.88. Running a Sk540 with an Align sensor (Black and Red wires reversed ) Magnet is mounted in the Main Gear with a gear Ratio at 1.00 . What I am seeing is the Magnet passes the sensor . The light stays on for one complete revolution . The magnet passes the sensor a second time the light goes out for one revolution . So one complete turn with it on , One complete turn with it off . Not just a blink as the magnet passes each time . Low Ramp is at 40 High Ramp is at 120 Override is at 0 Gov. Gain is at 28 Thanks Karl Last edited by USA_1_INK; 06-24-2015 at 06:52 PM.. There is no need to compensate for a 2 or 4 stroke engine... ( you would only need to do that if you were getting the tach from pulses through the spark plug wire ) With an 8.66 - 1 gear ratio, set the SK gear ratio at 1.00 because the magnet is on the main gear. If the sensor was on the fan or even a backplate sensor, the ratio would need to be set at 8.66.
Only possible problem I see is low resolution using the main gear. I don't know your HS... But at 1500RPM, the SK sees 1500/60 = 25 magnet passes per second. Bog down 100 RPM to 1400 and there are 23.333 passes per second. On the fan, you'd have 216.5 per second at 1500HS And 202 per sec at 1400. I haven't run any GOV off the main gear so I can't say if it works well or not. What I mentioned above is just how it looks on paper. Nothing to do with how it would actually fly and hold HS. Gryphon 7075 running off 2200 3s 45c pack at 8.4v. (same one I run on my Gob 700).
Dual leads up to the controller. Yge 160 esc on 14s. Torq 9180s on cyclic and 9088 on the tail. KDE 455kv gen 3 motor. Sk720B/ Jeti rx. HW phase sensor tied right into the Yge motor output wire poles. Which puts me right at the signal source and alleviates any bad connection issues.

Which firmware rev? 4.07? if not than you have to start with that phase sensor issue. I also think you got lost there with the 10/10 low/high...
go back to 80/120 and we need to try again from there. EDIT: checked the logs on my 4.07: there is no anomaly. this means your phase sensor is bad or badly connected - as Georgi already wrote.

I'll just mention, My 540 is on a gasser as well with the sensor on the main gear but it has three magnets. I bought the heli already built so this was done by someone else but it seems to work pretty good so far.

Mine are 100/150/100 but I just updated the firmware to 4.07 and have not flown it yet so we'll see how this works now. On my last flights I was getting a hint of overspeeding when the head was unloaded. Now that I have the gain on the TX I can see if upping the gain makes it better or worse.
