Default 14SG and Voice Telemetry

Does the 14SG have voice alerts for telemetry?

I believe it does. I just set mine up for Rx pack voltage, but set it for Vibe alert only. There have been one or two firmware updates I skipped that involved voice features that I didn't feel I would use. But when I was setting up the alarm today, I saw that there was a voice option. I just left it Inhibited.

Let us know how you make out.

Is it loud enough ? I find the futaba radios ive flown with (my own and ppl who ask to try their machines) that they aren't loud enough to hear unless you are flying way out.

The audible alarms are certainly not loud enough alone without assistance, and I know most guys want to hear their craft, but the audio outlet jack in the back of the transmitter will allow an earphone or similar, and I have found this works quite well if you are so inclined, and it is quite fun.

Andy

TX. Software should be 4.0v then you can load the 2.0v Sound Function.

Possibly yours is already up-to-date (?)

If you do need to update make sure that you only load the ENGLISH version(s).

I use to use head phone (Iphone type) therefore I'd hear it correctly. Now I've installed a small speaker on the TX and hear it great.

Is there a manual on how to set up the voice stuff? I updated my firmware, and then installed the sound stuff, but haven't been able to get it to talk at all. I went into my telemetry stuff, changed it from INH to on, but then it's like it wants a switch assignment. Not sure what to put there. I also went into my timer, and from what I read, it would count off the minutes, but all it does is beep at me. Lost.

I've read through that and well it's not very clear and most of it was just changes in the new version. I did see a video on youtube where he had to hit a switch to get it to talk, as long as the switch was actuated, it would talk. Maybe that's what I need to do as well. I'd like like it to tell me how much time I have left on my timer, and well if my telemetry goes off (receiver voltage and flight pack voltage) I wish it would read off what it is, so I know which one it is. Most of the time it would be my flight pack, due to having a low reading on certain maneuvers as I always check my electronics pack and if it's less then 8V, I change it out and charge it.

This is my setup, works quite good. Search for "clip on speaker" in amazon or google.

Futaba 14sg telemetry speech (0 min 35 sec)

Cheers

Hey Rod I found a speaker that I think will work pretty good if not, I will try the one like yours. Tell me when you activate the switch does it just go in order voicing all the ones you have activated?

Hi Jcflyer

I'll need to check on the order that the speech playback is done. However, I have found that too much information while flying does affect my concentration so I inhibit some of the features. I use switch SF to switch on sound and RD to control the volume.

The vario tones can be really distracting so I control the volume of this using the right slider switch.
I think the Vario tones will be very useful when I am out with my glider searching for thermals.

Using a speaker, I am finding it to be a bit of a nuisance, and it also requires batteries to power the speaker amplifier. I may use an earpiece instead of the speaker. I have tried it and it doesn't prevent me from communicating with other pilots on the flight line.

If only Futaba had built the speaker into the tx case.

Cheers

Rod
