Default Help trex 600 pro dfc front torque tube gear stripping

Need some advice. I am running 12 degrees of pitch and 1850 head speed. I have a dx8 and I am running ar7200bx. If I punch out at 75% ish I strip out the front torque tube gears. 2 times now. I don't know why. Everything looks correct. The gear mesh looks good. I bought the heli used and I have only had a trex 500 pro before this 600 pro dfc. Is there something I am missing? I am a novice I can do some mild 3D.

The 600 TT gears are notorious for stripping. Are you running a governor? If so, try lowering your governor gain. Otherwise, the most common solution is to adjust the mesh with spacers, but you said it looks good.

The default governor gain setting is too high in the Castle's governor. That's probably what your problem is. Try lowering it to around 10-12.

Same thing happened to me a month or two ago....except I was in the middle of a piro circle and had no chance of recovering it. Most people who have been flying the 600L or DFC have had the same thing happen. Definitely bring the gov gain down....i have mine at 4, and I fly in the 2100-2300 headspeed range. I also shimmed the torque tube gear so the mesh was as tight as possible, these relatively weak gears will need it with the amount of torque that motor puts out. I also check my gears for wear after every flight. If the teeth are losing shape at all...a failure isnt far away.

Thanks for the help. I double checked the mesh and there is a very small very small gap so I will shim it and drop the gain more. Right now I am at 15.

Make sure that you measure the gap at the "tallest" spot on the gear, since they all tend to be slightly out of round. If you only have a very small gap, then that's probably what it should be.

Reducing your governor gain is probably going to be the solution.
