Default I think my squeak is a motor bearing?

Back story :

Purchased a used T-rex 500 with a Scorpion 3026-1600 (older)

I've been chasing a high pitch occasional squeak/squeel for some time now. I've pretty much replaced every bearing EXCEPT for the motor. I was looking at a 3226-1600 (newer) But my current motor has all the power I'll need.

Should I replace the bearings in my current motor or the motor all together.

I've tried lubrication (hehe) and the problem still persists. I DO have another align motor I could try and see if the problem goes away?

Thanks.

It could be bearings, but a squeal/chatter can also come from improper governor gains if you are running a gov.

I would recommend trying your other motor first. If the squeal persists, it's probably something else.

Bearing change would be a good start though. The 3226 is a nice motor, and they really are worth the cash. If it were me, I would get the 3226, and keep the 3026 as a backup after changing the bearings.

Thanks very much for the reply. I'm running a gov gain of 22 in my castle settings. All my motor timing's and such are default.

I think i'll get a 3226 and keep the older version as a spare as you've said. So many options and it's christmas time!

It is fairly easy to replace the bearings in the 3026. Mine took out a few sets of bearings.

The 3226 is a nice upgrade not only in power but also in smoothness. I have yet to replace the bearings in it.

There's even a step by step tutorial for the bearing change.

How to change Bearings in a Scorpion Motor by Innov8tive Designs (14 min 30 sec)

And if you have a stuck bearing

How to Remove a Stuck Bearing from a Motor by Innov8tive Designs (4 min 48 sec)

Thank you for posting the video's PowerDyne.

I just ordered and received some Abec 7 bearings from Boca Bearings for my 3026 motor. I've got the motor all apart BUT i do not own an arbor press.

What's a surefire way to remove them without a press?

Also, when re-installing, is green loctite required to retain them?

Thanks alot guys.

I don't think there's a sure fire way to replace bearing in a motor without a press, before I had an arbor press I would use my drill press.

I'm going to borrow a small bench vise from work. That will certainly help.

Thank you.

For those familiar with the 3026-1600 motor.

How many washers/shims under the inside bearing? When I pulled mine apart, there was none. The shaft was even with the bottom of the can. I can see metal flakes where the inner bearing was rubbing on the can itself at the shaft insertion point.

This is my squeak/whine sound for sure. Both bearings are smooth and in good shape, the inner bearing is worn unusually from rubbing on metal. I went ahead and replaced them both with the orange seal bearings I got from Boca.

Thanks.
