Question what tail servo for 450L owners?

The stock is decent but looking for better performance.

Anyone try the MKS95i?

My vote goes to the 8910a+. Holds amazingly. The new mks hv tail servo looks pretty good too.

I wouldn't advise the mks ds8910 a+, it is just horrible. The ds525m is far better.

What is your reasoning? My align servos aren't bad, but my MKS servos are better with noticeably less jittering. The general consensus is that the MKS is a stellar servo, and I have only seen complaint threads caused by user error.

MKS's new HV mini tail servo is still not as fast as the DS95i.

And its running at 8.4v versus the little DS95i at 6v.

If you want the best tail servo for a 250 or 450... the proof is in the pudding and reviews.

DS95i is supreme.

By the way, the Align DS 525m is a great servo and can do all the smack 3D you can dream of.

Its just not quite fast enough to counteract FFF tail wag when flying flat out, fast as a 6s 450 can go.

With the 8910A+ and the 95i, the torque and speed differences are almost negligible. They are both great, no doubt, but in this case, the 8910 is easier to install. If you want the 95i, get a boom mount or an adapter plate. Both work great regardless, choose whichever you like. By the way, when rating a tail servo, specs are not nearly enough. Take for instance the ds92, non A+ version. It goes at a pretty fast .06, but it fails as a tail servo because it has the reaction time of my grandmother. Just because the new servos are not as fast, their reaction time may be better, and the extra torque could be a deciding factor in whether it is a good servo or not.

If the 525 is good enough for the T500, it's more than enough for the 450L.

Just sayin'...

I'm very impressed with my DS95i. Far better than the Align DS520.

I had issues in FFF with my stock setup. I went with the RJX mini tail servo, just to try it. Seemed like the specs were pretty good.

It's working great for me, no complaints. I do fly a fast big-air sport routine with loops, rolls, cuban 8s, etc. The stock servo felt ok, until I started hauling ass, then I would get a high frequency wag.

I have MKS servos in all my helis, so naturally I chose the MKS 8910A+
I thought about getting the 95i, but since the stats are very close and the 8910A+ is a direct fit that's what I decided to go with.

It is not a matter of reasoning. It is a matter of having actually tested the servo. And really it doesn't worth the money. It doesn't even worth an align ds520 which is much better. When you fly it hard it will not hold the way you would expect from a modern servo. I suspect it is because it builds up too much help. I have two 450 that I fly very hard with a lot if piro, piro reversals and technical 3d moves. The day I switched the ds520 of my main for a ds8910a+, my main became my backup machine. When stressed, the 8910a+ acts funny , I suspect it is because it overheats.
Don't read the specs, don't read the hype, fly and compare.
By the way, I have other friends, very good pilots that also abandoned the ds8910a+ after having tested it.
It might be that we all have faulty servos, but in this case the QC is not very good (which is true IMHO for mks according to my experience).
The ds95i is in another category and it meats the expectations in real flight.

I've got an 8910A+ in the box ready for my 450L. Should be interesting to compare it to the 95i..

I guess I'll find out first hand how well the 8910A+ works since I've already ordered one.

Last year I tried a DS8910A+ I sent it back because it wouldn't hold doing fast backward loops.

I run mines on my 450 pro with edge 353s running 4300 rpm, +-14.5 degrees, doing full throttle backwards flight and lots of poor collective management pitch reversals, and the thing doesn't jitter or budge at all. No heat, no blowouts, nothing. Piros stop on a dime as well. What odd behavior were you experiencing, and what gyro were you using? I heard that these servos have issues with vbars. I definitely would not say it is worse than a ds520. The 520 is very good, but it jitters on piro stops, and it lets the tail wag on hard pitch pumps. On a side note, the 8910 did act kind of funny with a beastx, but with a sk540, it is almost perfect in my experience. Mines has never really overheated, but I can see that happening with helis with blistering piro rates and really hard piro stop settings on their gyros.

Best tail servos I have and have tried are the MKS 8910A+ and the MKS 95i. Both have been flawless and hold great. I beat on the stock Align 525 servo on one of my 450 DFC Pro's...it's pretty good.

I am going to try this. I know it weighs about 9-10 grams more... but it looks awesome.

Hmmm yes using Vbar. The flight characteristics are OK I just know that it could be better. I am going to be getting an Ikon soon.

Tell us how it is when you get it. Looks like a really promising candidate.
