Default 12t pinion on a belt v2

hi,
i'm using a hobbymate 2835 motor with a 12 t pinion.
i wonder whether it is ok for a belt v2 or whether i should use a 10t pinion.
thanks.

12t and that motor is too much for the Belt, IMHO. Would be OK on a full metal 450 though. Better stick to the 10t pinion.

hay redbird great tool ive just downloaded it as i was asking about a pinion for my motor around a week ago and followed your advice
anyways after getting your HS tool i looked into my motor specs just for a lauf..do you think you can look over this link and tell me what you think

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0kv_(450_class)

my motor is a Turnigy Typhoon 2218H
im using a 150 tooth align main gear
and an 11 tooth pinion thinking of upping to 13 pending your thorts
on a HK450 SOON TO BE ALL CARBON blades, frame, paddles, tail blades and poss boom

so the test flights was awesome and in 20 mph winds using a 2800mah lipo, rock solid flight i was pooping my pants as i havnt flown in a few months but came home very happy with my new bird.had to stop after two flight as i was freezing my nuts off so had to pop the other 4 pack back on storage till spring arrives

thanks for your time and HS tool
antony

If you do the calculations, you'll find about 2450 RPM for the 11t pinion, and about 2900 RPM for the 13t pinion, with your setup.

2450 RPM sounds a little low on that heli, but should still be pretty much OK for sportsflying and long flying times, but you might like the extra stability and punch with a higher headspeed, it's a very personal thing. I would go for the 13t pinion, but that's just me.

thanks redbird
im a scale flyer so found the two flights ok..but i did a stall turn and found the low head speed to be a tad scary as the ground got to close for my likings.im off to get me a 13 tooth pinion
