Bad crash, help!
Hey all, first off thanks in advance for any and all responses to this post! I recently purchased a 450X and was extremely happy with it! I'm flying it with a DX8 and today was just an absolutely stupid day. I took it up at the football field I fly at and everything was fine until the little clip I had connected to the neck brace hole of my Tx flipped up and got stuck on my left stick. I just turned the heli to face me as I';ve been practicing that lately, and it started backing to my right. So, when I tried pulling the right stick toward the right, it was caught on the little clip I mentioned up there and it prevented me from making a correction. I looked down to remove it and and by that time the heli crashed hard. Man how annoying! So when I got to it, it had turned off. No power. Battery was connected. Somehow, blades were ok, boom ok, head assembly ok, but the frame shattered. It didn't seem like an issue, except when I got it home. I took off all the electronics and discovered, two of the servos had messed up gears, STILL not too bad, I can handle everything so far. However, I cant seem to get the AR7200BX to turn on anymore. It was still mounted in the same place the factory installed it. It doesn't look banged up at all. I plugged a battery into the esc while the esc was still connected to the AR7200BX and nothing would happen. I checked batt voltage and its ~12.5Vdc and the way I checked whether the ESC was receiving any of that voltage was connecting my voltmeter to the motor wires (red and black) and they were getting voltage. Anyway, I cant seem to figure out whats wrong. This receiver costs $250 and I'm not too sure its worth the rebuild It's upsetting because I've only flown the darned thing a few times and the reason it crashed was that stupid clip. I know better now! I took that stupid thing off my Tx. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have any advice or methods for checking the AR7200BX? Thanks again!

Did you check power from the BEC?

I didn't, how do you do that? Also, I think I figured out the problem is in the ESC. I JUST took my 300x out and plugged the throttle connector from it to the ar7200bx from my 450 and plugged a batt in. It turned on! I don't know how to troubleshoot the ESC/BEC. I took the heat shrink off of it and everything looks ok I have the correct heat shrink to put back on it, but I wouldn't mind trying to figure out what's wrong with it. MAN I'm so happy the Receiver is ok.

If you broke the frames it is possible the BEC took a hit. Do you have an alternative power source you can plug into the BX? See picture below. Plug into THRO on the BX. |

Definitely sounds like the BEC if the BX powered up using another ESC. I suspect a component came loose from the impact, but also possible that something burned out.

Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it. I concur about the neck strap, got rid of it immediately. Man what a bother. Ended up spending about 150 in parts. Not too bad, when the BX could've been bad. I'm grateful either way! Thanks again!
