Default Getting into Helis - Durham, NC

Hello all,

I am just getting into Helis. I am currently budgeting the money to get a MA Furion 6. I currenly have a couple of fixed-pitched 4 channel toy helicopters and I have pretty much became bored with those. I purchased a Walkera V120D02S and I'm sure yall know how that went since I'm new to the hobby. I did a lot of research and I I finally figured out how to tame it down so that it would be easier for me to learn on it but I am finding out that it is still difficult to fly. I have decided that I'm going to do it right and I did my research and picked out the Furion 6. I believe this Heli will alow me to set it up so I can learn flying a CP Heli and still be able to grow with it.
I am open to questions, concerns, comments and definately advice from experienced flyers or any at that. That's why I have joined HeliFreak!

Thanks

Thank you! That's what I was hoping for from this forum. Its really nice knowing people close by. I'm sure we will be in contact, I have a lot to learn. My biggest thing right now is trying to decide whether to go with a 6s or a 10s or something in between power setup. Since I am learning, I would like to maximize flight time. I believe I will enjoy more sport flying but would like to be able to do 3D tricks at some point but I will probably get a smaller, less expensive heli to practice the 3D stuff when/if I decide to do that. I also like the Hitec Aurora 9 for a transmitter but I would like other opinions on that as well.

Thanks,

-Kevin

That would be cool. The only thing I have flying right now is that Walkera V120D02S. I also have a Humingbird CP that's probably 10 years old, I need to get a new tail motor for it and then it will be good.

Hey everyone,
I was just doing a search for people in my area and found your thread. I'm fairly new to flying heli's also. I have a Blade 120sr and an Mcpx v2. Picking up a Tarot 450 soon. Would love to get together with others in the area to learn-fly together-meet new people...etc.

Cheers!
Pat

Peilers,

Welcome to the 'Freak!

I'm in Raleigh, a bit of a drive from Greensboro but I visit High Point/Trinity/Archdale to visit the future in-laws every once and a while. Just have the micros now (sold my 550 and 500) but if I'm in the area I'll send you a PM, always nice to have a flying buddy.

If you need anything, feel free to shoot me a PM.

There's quite a few of us around Greensboro and Winston; I live near and fly in Winston usually. I'll send you a PM with more info when I get a chance.
