Question IMHO

Have you guys noticed that when you see this acronym the poster is almost always as far from humble as can be?

Just saying

Ah, so it means humble as well? That explains why people use the "H". Always thought it sounded damn weird to put "honest" in there.

Both forms seem to be acceptable, but on this site I usually read it as honest .... before someone bashes a product.

I always interpreted it as honest as well. I usually just use IMO. I think it's a good thing to clarify that it's an opinion as opposed to "fact".

It can be both apparently, although Humble is used more according to this: http://www.acronymfinder.com/Slang/IMHO.html

I suppose is up to the readers interpretation but both would be correct.

"In My Humble (Honest) Opinion, as in "Speaking IMHO" - A disclaimer of sorts, used on blogs, message boards, forums etc.; used to clarify that the statement being made should not be quoted as a fact, but only as an opinion.
1) Speaking IMHO, I think everyone should have a job of some sort.
2) IMHO, you are a looser.
3) IMHO, this is the best answer.
4) Freedom of speech is Speaking IMHO"

Another quote

"Supposedly "in my humble opinion", this is always said before someone makes an asshole comment that is not at all humble. Much like "no offense" precedes an offensive comment.
"Your girlfriend is an ugly bitch...IMHO."

When ever speaking with someone in person I have alway hear people verbalize "in my honest opinion" or often hear people say " to be honest with you". With that being said I always understood the acronym to mean honest not humble. I think the opinion should be honest. Humble is just subjective and a matter it perception. Whether your humble or an a## hole is still prefer you shoot me straight.

After now having actually thought about it thanks to Trex I think I prefer IMO.

So you have to tell people when you're being honest? "this is not directed at anyone in particular..."

IMO is the correct acronym for an honest Opinion...

I know many times I withhold a full expression of my opinion because it might not fall in line with the mantra here on HF, but I do try and be as point blank as possible!

Bunch of dudes, toys, on a public forum. Maybe your expectations are too high? See a ridiculous post don't reply, go on with the intelligent conversation.

There is a reason why pretty much every single person professionally in the hobby or famous on any level inside the hobby doesn't bother with forums. It's sad since it would be great to interact with the guys at the core of what's going on. They've all flocked to Facebook where it's harder to hide anonymously and you can choose your friends.

I try to use "imo"

in my opinion

I see ymmv alot , and usually they are not being honest. Like saying a motor will give a ton of more power and longer flight times, which is not possible.

and at the end of the post it says ymmv(your milage may vary) which means your results will be diffrent

I have always interpreted the term as "In My Humble Opinion."

That is what I mean when I use it.

I have always seen humble but I usually say IMO not IMHO. Don't really see the need for the "H" in there.

I hate acronyms. I feel like I'm always the last one to figure out what they mean.

It's like when somebody says "No offense, but (politely offensive statement)." I always wonder why the person bothered with the extra keystrokes, but then I remind myself I have probably done the same thing at some point in the past.
