Default Wow is it a good time to build a clone

These days you can build a very nice clone for $250! The Tarot 450 pro is a very nice heli, some might argue better than its Align cousin.

297000099-0 - Tarot 450 PRO V2 DFC Flybarless Helicopt.. $93.74
297000034-0 - Tarot ZYX-S2 3-Axis Gyro Flybarless Syst.. $45.79
9355000003 - TGY-306G-HV High Voltage Ultra Fast/High.. $66.76 (4x)
9351000023 - Hobbyking YEP 40A (2~6S) SBEC Brushless .. $19.31
TY2215-3550 - Turnigy Typhoon 450H 2215H Heli Motor 35.. $10.61

add $30 for shipping and you are up and running for <$270 with what I'd argue is a better bird than 450 plus and on par with the pro. You could sub the ZYX for a vbar clone and save even a few more bucks.

Man, if I didn't have more 450's than I should....

I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but.......
- I bought that ESC. It destroyed two FBL units before I figured out what was going on and threw it in the trash. Pretty expensive ESC - and I didn't even get one flight on it.
I bought that motor. After a few flights the shaft broke at the top of the top bearing. Pretty high cost/flight.

Regards,
Roger

I have good luck with YEP 40A ESC for more than a year, about 200 flight in my 450 Pro. So far so good. It works very well with SK540 FBL controller and 3 KST215 servo and 1 KST515 tail servo. No external BEC is needed.

Turnigy Plush 40A also works well and is probably better proven. Less features, but still, you can use a FBL gov.

A YEP 40 is expensive? Last time I bought one it was around $20.
You sure it was the esc?

An ESC that destroys two flybarless controllers sounds expensive to me.

Seems to me there is another common denominator at work here but yeah, that would be an expensive esc.
