Default Problem using ESC to control LEDs

Hi folks,

I'm new to the idea of using an ESC to control LEDs, but have bought one of these for the chassis lights on my Trex 250:

I'm connecting it to a spare channel on my FBL controller, but I don't appear to have any control. As soon as I power up the heli all 4 LEDs just start to flicker, and nothing I do seems to make any difference.

Any ideas? Is there more to this than just wiring up the LEDs and choosing an appropriate throttle level?

Looking at the specs, it says it's for single cell (1s) power, and doesn't have a bec, therefore it's output to the receiver (or led's) will be at 1s, which is too low for your led's (I'm making an assumption based on your statement).

What led's do you have?

Just 4 standard LEDs, I went for two orange and two yellow, which only need 2.2V.

I do see the LEDs flickering, so they're getting some input right from the start which I wasn't expecting. I assumed I would see nothing until the ESC armed.

Have you tried to run the led's from a separate power source (without the brushed esc) to see the voltage required to make them illuminate without flickering?
