Default 200V2 Tail setup issue

Hi, I have a pretty wierd problem, i I set up the tail as per the manual, IE, 90 Deg on the servo horn, and 90Deg on the tail lever, the heli swings its nose wildly, no amount o right rudder will hold it in place. This is with HH on.

I have to shift the servo towards the nose by about 5+mm. resulting in a very offset tail. More let throw than right, otherwise it will hit the tail housing.

It seems as if the tail shaft is too short? But I have compared this to spares in the LHS, they are the same length. Any ideas?

check your belt tension, my belt was loose and the tail wouldn'T hold at all. I tightened the belt and all was good

The Tail housing does catch it on one side. I wish the design was better so you could offset that somehow.

I basically just adjusted the gyro end point until it Just cleared the tail housing and the tail holds fine now.

Thanks for the replies, can you get the tail to hold with 90 deg on the servo horn and 90 deg on the tail lever?

Is your gyro set correctly? Sounds like you have the gyro reversed. I don't think it's a tail problem. What gyro are u running?

well I couldnt get mine horn to go 90 Degrees.

What I did was remove the outside nut on shaft

then I "unwound" the tail so that the horn sit 90 degrees. (lock tighted that in) then put the but back on the end fo the shaft. it was almost flush with the end.

Now I get good deflection.

The gyro is a 401, and its not reversed.

yeah the outside nut thing is what I did too, have plenty of room on the shaft, and can center well. Piros are INSANE with full limit and travel on my Gyro/tx.

check out this thread on RCG about my tail setup:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1022556

"..so I brought er inside to get a better shot, but didnt have the cojones to do a full on piro from a hover in that space. this one also has some floor walking which I have always found to be fun...."

This is just a little bit about the tail setup and a look at my WIP upgrade to V2. Currently it is at about 1.65 or so I guess.

Nice heli!

Any negative about having the nut out all the way to the end on the tail shaft? I heard some people say it's a bad idea.

I've got a V2 tail on the way and I want to make sure I do it right.

why is it a bad idea ?

Lock tight it in and its fine.. I have many flights like this and I love the tail authority now.

Doing a Piro Flip and the tail stays exacrtly where you want/expect it. no more post flip micro second recoveries.

It works fine as long as the spindle stays put, if the loctite comes loose the spindle will wind and unwind on the shaft and you will get an unusual wagging on the tail in flight. You wont be able to see it move because when you spool down again, the spindle winds itself back out on the shaft so it looks like it stayed put.

So if you start to get wag, just double check the spindle did not/is not moving around.

I know that some folks here have issues with He li sta but I have a big thread there about this same issue, and what I had to do to the tail to get it resolved. The link is here if it will work from HF.

the link does not work so here it is, just copy paste in the address bar and remove the spaces:

This must be what I read (just at a different place).

Quote:
The solution is simple, make sure the nut is threaded all the way and loctited. There's still plenty of throw on the slider.
This sounds like the method I used to do on the V1 tail, and the tail held crap then.

Going to try it with the nut on the end then, use some new blue loctite on the hub and nut.

As you said I can just have a look to see if it's spinning around by feeling.

I guess this is why they give lots of thread on the tail shaft.

Thanks.

If you can turn spindle In both directions and the belt slips you are good to go.

The tail is great for me
