Default Futaba T7C backlight mod

Does anybody have a back-light on a Futaba T7C radio?

I'm having a hard time reading the radio screen, specially inside the house.
My eyes don't help either
Just wondering.

Thank you all !

Default FrSKY and backlight mod

Did the FrSKY 2.4Ghz and backlight mod this weekend. Fed the EL panel wire through the same hole the display cable ran through. VERY happy with the outcome!

After installing this backlight mod, I realized the blue background was not ideal for bright light - so I ordered THIS one, which will show the display in bright light MUCH better - wish I had known this before I bought the blue one!

I didn't get to do the MOD.
MMatheny, How did you do it?
I don't want to screw it by pulling the polarized layer on the screen.

Please let me know !

I didn't have any issue with the "polarizer" filter he refers to - the silver back came off easily. You can feed the cable for the EL through the same opening at the top that the cable for the LCD display feeds through - plenty large. Took less than 30 minutes. I highly suggest the sky blue EL that I posted over the blue EL - while the blue EL looks cool in the dark, it doesn't work well in bright sunlight.

I also highly suggest the FrSky 2.4ghz mod! - took less than 30 minutes, and at $15 for the TX and $20 for the RX, I went ahead and upgraded all three systems with 2.4ghz. I thought about a dual 72mHz/2.4gHz system but the price of RX's made me drop that idea. Great range - in range test (where it puts out 1/1ooth power) I gave up walking away to see if it would fail!

Just did the back light mod on my tranny. One note I would add is make sure not to peal off polarising layer just the thin silver Also do not try to clean off the sticky backing on the polarising layer just leave it.

cheers

yeogav, why didn't you order the sky blue EL I posted rather than the blue one? The blue backlight is hard to see in sunlight.

Whats this polarizer filter? Is it part of your Tx or something attached to the El panel?

It is part of the Tx screen.
Watch the you tube video and read the description and the comments.

Here's mine after switching to the sky blue EL panel - inside and outside.

Default Backlight

I went night flying recently, used street lighting to see the screen. I just ordered the sky blue one on ebay, $12.50 total until tax or customs enter into the mix. Thanks so much for sharing the info!

Can the EL panel be cut ? I bought one from ebay.com but could not distinguish whether it is sky blue color or not ? If EL panel can be cut, how do we trim the panel to fit T7C ?

Thanks,

The reason I got one was it has been done, which tells me it can be cut. Salrica posted the youtube video that explains the panel can be cut, as long as you do it away from the side of the connections. Here's the link to the sky blue one. Mine hasn't been delivered yet, been 2 weeks yesterday.

Thanks for the link. I think I got my EL panel from this seller a while ago. I did send this seller a message to ask for the cut/trim question. No response so far after about 2 months.

Default el panel

Mine was delivered yesterday. It took just over 2 weeks to get. Hope to get it installed this weekend. No instructions with the item. Only an encapsulated electronic part stating 12VDC.

I cut it and it still worked. I got the pins out of the connector and routed my wires w/the wire ribbon. Then just reattached the connector while watching to make sure the wires went back into the same spot they came out of.
