Default Weird Behavior

I've had some weired behavior start with my MSRx recently:

When I first hit the throttle on a new battery most of the time the helo will spool up and then become unresponsive to commands. It will start to slip sideways and backwards at low throttle, dragging on the ground.

The bind light then goes out, comes back on, and many time the process repeats itself with a new throttle input.

However, after 1-2 times (sometime more) of doing this it's like the helo "warms up" and behaves normally.

Controller (Devo 7e with proper flashed Deviation protocol) has plenty of power, so it's not a xmit power issue.

Could this be a dirty servo issue? Any other ideas?

How old are the batteries...an older weak battery will exhibit those characteristics

That might be it, on at least 2 of my batts (have 4) the LVC starts blinking around 3:15 (have my timer set for 4:15, which has been working fine with no LVC flashing).

I'm well aware of flying to LVC can kill a battery but one of mine is almost new (maybe 20 flights) and that one sometimes does the same thing.

I'll try to see if I can pin it down to a particular battery or batteries.

Have you checked for proper servo/swash movement before you give any TX inputs?

Yes, servos seem to make full travel.

I had the same thing with my msrx. Runned 9 different lipo's, always the same problem. Read about bad rx chip soldering and eventually send it back to hh.

If all else fails, the boards for the mSRX have dropped in price a bit so that may be another option

I've got some cleaner on order, will try that when it comes in and see if dirty servo is the problem.

Just an update, my problem does appear to be battery-related; my newest bat doesn't seem to exhibit any of this behavior and my older ones losr power about a minute early (3 minutes) as well as the weird stuff.

A couple new bats on the way just to be sure...

The newer heli's sure are pushing the batteries we use...can't wait for the next level of battery tech to make it's debut

I'm using 45C's and even once flown to LVC makes a brand new one a senior citizen

And indeed it was a battery issue. Two new batts today and everything is back to normal.

So, if your helo starts exhibiting weird behavior, check the batteries!
