Default Blister in carbon on Edge main blade

I haven't flown my xx yet - was setting up tonight and noticed a blister or bubble in the carbon. It reflected in the light when I looked at it the right way, and on further inspection it is a blister about 30mm dia, raised about 1mm. If I press firmly on it I can get it to go down, but I wouldn't call it squishy.

So are things like this normal on carbon blades (never noticed it before), or is this a problem?

I took a photo, but couldn't get it to show up as clearly as I can see it. It's just past the 'E' of Edge.

I'm of the opinion that you should not use the blade. If the skin of the blade is delaminated, the strength of the blade I think would be compromised. They have no spar, so all the strength of the blade is in the skin.

Since the blade is new and never used (and has an obvious defect), I'd petition the dealer to provide a replacement set.

Your question: "...are things like this normal on carbon blades..."

No. Get it replaced.

Thanks Dave. That was my gut feeling, but I just wanted to make sure.

It's a big heli and there's a lot of load on those blades....

I had a set of blades like that on my 700, they flew just fine for years.

But contact Readyheli if you would like them to be replaced. :)

Thanks. I had bought the kit from rcflightstore in Canada - I contacted Ken and he had a new set in the mail next day.

I wasn't sure - maybe it would have been fine but the load on these blades is much greater than anything else I have previously flown so I don't want to take any chances.

Cheers,
Ant
