Default Head bog

My Pantera has a ys80.I've heard it's damn near impossible to bog the head with this motor set up.I have the raptor gear ratio mod in it and it still seems to bog a bit.Running 12 and 12 and today decided to lean in out a bit. While the head speed came up and response was better, still doesn't have the explosive climb out power I was looking for.Maybe I'm just asking to much from it,but I would think the motor would be able to accelerate faster than the head causing no bogging.Any suggestions?

What kind of temps. are you getting on the head, you should be able to pull +12 without any problem.

I would figure you are rich or too lean one or the other.

head bog is one of two things.
Your banging the sticks. or the motor is not happy.
Most of the time it is your banging the sticks boggin the motor and you don't know if the motor is happy. If you can fly smooooth then it's the motor. Your call.

Default Splitting hairs.

Another point or two often over looked...CG and blade tracking/pitch/cyclic ranges.

CG...if you're caring too much weight either for or aft of the main shaft...you'll be trimming to counter that weight difference...wasting energy.

Tracking pretty obvious...but wasteful.

Pitch & Cyclic...I thought my cyclic & pitch setups were spot-on till I got a better gauge...thought I was +/-13 and 10 on cyclic all the way around.
Got the better gauge...+14 & -12 with cyclics anywhere from 8 to 12 degrees.
Reset for +/- 12 and now have 10 on all four corners. The first flight after making this adjustment was like someone had put a BIGGER motor in the bird...still sporting the 5lbs-ham-thumbs.

I since have really progressed on the collective management skills and rarely bog the head.

Also consider...the blade you're flying (and other parts of your setup...servos???).
If you're trying to make it "snap"...you'll need a really stiff blade to get the "pop".

YS-80 with the gearing should "pull tree stumps" as someone here has said before.

Thanks for the info-the pitch theory with the gage makes sense and the stiffer blades-I'm usind swe 620's,I always noticed setting up with the pitch gage is good for ballpark, but always had to add more pitch for some reason-going to use a digital gage now and see what there really at and shop around for some stiffer blades. The "pop" is what i was looking for, thanks!

What gear ratio? Have you loaded the autohub with JB Weld? Don't exceed 8 degrees of cyclic. 12/12 should be easy, maybe even 14/14 if you have the chops.

Check your set up as well. At mid stick you should be at zero deg pitch, half thr.
JB sells a cool tool that will help you out in making sure everything is dialed in.
You typed that your using SWE 620's. Good blades. I fly them on my BBC's
