Default YGE100

Anyone running a YGE100 ESC on his X5?
I'm looking into this because I want a good governor on mine.

If you have a X5 with YGE, please let me know your experience with it.

YGE is said to be top notch, awesome gov and all of that. they are said to be as good as kontronik except for the konk has a higher rated BEC but i think some yge esc have a internal bec and some dont, but they are suposed to be good stuff. i know of guys that run YGE on other helicopters and love them.

Hi

I am using a YGE120 on my X5 FES with a external BEC (Western Robotics).
I use the YGE in the gov store mode. I always used YGE's on my helis and I am very satisfied with them.
I use the stock motor with a 16t pinion, a headspeed of 2500 with 86% throttle.
I use as well the ISII telemetry system and measure peak currents of max 135 Amps.

I few I know fly the YGE.
It is top notch.
I fly a Castle gov. on my 500 but I'm not getting one for my X5.

Today I was able to tach my headspeed.
2450 at the begin and 2280 at the end.
2280 is way too soft and 2450 is very cool but I can do with a little less and trade for flight time.

For me something close to 2400 rpm will be the sweet spot I guess.
Nice trade between power and flight time.

Can't wait to fly this bird with a good governor!

You posted while I was typing.
What is your flight time with the 16T pinion @ 2500?
(I use 4000mAh packs.)

Flight time is between 4'20 and 4'40 depending of the flight style. I use as well 4000 mAh Lipos (SLS APL 45C). With soft flying without 3D 5' are possible.

OK!

I typed in the numbers on my Castle software and it tells me with 15T only 2200 governed is possible.
With 16T max. 2300 governed.
Huh???

That is crazy low!

Can you tell me what the max governed rpm is possible with 15T and 16T using a YGE?

First I had a 15t with 85% flat throttle curve with 2250 headspeed.
With a 16t I have now 2480 with 85.5% flat throttle curve.
As I told, I use the governor store. I learn in the governor store without blades with a 80% loaded lipo with a 100% flat throttle curve. With the 16t I receive then 2880 to 2900 rpm.
I think for the YGE everything between 80 and 87% throttle is OK because of the headroom needed.

OK, seems I need the 16T to run 2400 rpm governed?
I'm reading a lot now about how the YGE works.

Not sure why you do this: "I learn in the governor store without blades with a 80% loaded lipo with a 100% flat throttle curve. With the 16t I receive then 2880 to 2900 rpm."

But I'll do some more reading first, maybe then I understand.

If you have any tips about settings, much appreciated.
Using the stock GAUI (Scorpion) 910kv motor.

It's really different how people learn in the governor store. But this mode is really nice because when you learn in at 100% throttle then there is always a direct relation to the headspeed. Let's say at 100% 2900 will give you 2465 at 85% and 2320 at 80% and it always like this with every lipo. You can also learn in the governor store with a 100% loaded lipo without a problem. But when you use different lipos (some with more cycles and new ones) then I would learn in with the older ones.

Makes sense!
Thanks for explaining.

Can you confirm I need the 16T pinion if I want between 2350-2400 rpm governed?
For timing and PWM you left all @ default?

I would run with a 16t. I had 15t before. But you can change it in no time if you want.
Timing I have on 18° and PWM on 8 kHZ. YGE says, for outrunners the timing should be 18° or higher. With this setup the YGE stays cool and the motor is about 43° C with an ambient temp of about 16° C (now in Switzerland).

A 16T and YGE is in the shopping cart.
Now I need to do some more reading.
Thx.

You will be very satisfied with this setup, I think. I forgot something if you buy an YGE you have to buy as well the prog card II for proper setup.

I think, that the internal BEC of the YGE is just not enough for a flybarless machine like the gaui x5. I run an external one (Western Robotics, Hercules Super mini BEC).
