Default My 450L went down...

Weather here Saturday was good . So took the 450l out . Flew first pack every thing was good. On the second pack I was doing a slow upright pirouette in front of myself . Then decided to flip it inverted and hover . When I pulled the stick back to stop it it kept on going down . Put more negative. in nothing happened . When it was 3ft from the ground I realised it wasn't going to stop. At first I though I didn't put it in iu . That wasn't the case . After checking things out the one way bearing was bad. I probably have less than 25 flight on this heli. The bearing was very sloppy on the shaft. Funny how it went bad so fast.

They get sloppy, unless you have something like a 550 with radial bearings top and bottom . I use lightweight molly grease that is rated down to -35deg. Went through 2 one ways on my 500 just last summer. Never had much trouble with my 450.

I use a Lithium grease. Where do you get you lightweight moly grease from?

Also interested in the OWB, what brand. I fly several 450's.

Parts store, and never lithium. I've seen 600 thrust bearing disintegrate real quick with that stuff

The bearing was the original one that came with the kit . The number on the bearing is HF0612 with the word germany . It's align # HS1229.

I use light weight oil for lube. Maybe I should switch to a light grease .

I got all the parts yesterday to fix it. Weather is to be good this weekend . Hope I get done by Sunday .

Edit- Bearing also has the letters ina . I guess that is the company name.

Hmmm, same OWB's used in one of my Trex 450 Plus DFC's.
I'm going to check it very closely.
I have a Tarot OWB in Maria. I'll have to look at it for a part number.

I didn't realise it until I pressed the one way bearing out that there's only small portion of the sleeve that the bearing goes into that is a press fit. Most of the sleeve is relieved around the bearing . Only about 3/32" on the one end of the sleeve is press fit on the bearing. I wonder why they did it like that. The bushing goes on the same end as the press fit for the bearing doesn't leave much area for the press.

I use a drop or two of automatic transmission fluid on the OWB. I don't use grease.
