Cx3 or what...

Hey guys the lhs called my cx3 is waiting for me....What do i do .i already have the mcx and cx2 fully modded..Do i get this cx3 or do i get a higher up the ladder heli cp pro cp 2 when it comes out 400 etc.I am pretty good at flying these other helis...Whats should be the next step for me.thanks .I do have real flight and i can fly some of the non coaxil helis no problem ...Thanks for the advice in advance

Well, if you can already have the cx2 + the mcx, then there is no reason to add another version of the same heli to your collection. Instead you should use the $200 on either a blade 400 or cpp2. But I would also suggest a t-rex 250/250. (it could be a little out of your price range though.) One advantage to getting the blade 400 is that it comes with a dx6i, witch is a top-notch radio. The downside is that the b400 is sort of big and you may not have enough room to fly it. The cpp2 is also a good choice. It has the gyro and the better battery and 2.4 ghz tx. It might be a little twitchier to fly than the b400 though. But, I have learned on the cp pro and I am selling my B400 so I can buy another one. Anyway, the point is DON"T BUY THE CX3!! Use the money for a cp heli.

icerat, I can relate as I asked myself the same question after my mCx, and playin with buds CX2. In the end, I went with a B400... Here are MY reasons (you may relate, but again these are my reasons)

1-I loved flying the coaxial, and found it became limiting as I mastered it.
2-I wanted something that could really fly...quicker, faster... Didi I mention quicker?
3-Would love to fly outside more, and not be so wind sensitive.
4-I wanted a REAL heli, so the Honey Bee, CP+, 4#3b, 4G3, Trex 250, B400, Gaui 550, etc was on my mind.
5-I saw my fried flaying around with his CP Pro...TOO sensitive to me!
6-Wanted a really good 2.4Ghz transmitter to work with my other blades..

After reading boards, it was down to the Honey Bee or the 400. In the end, the B400 had a LOYAL following, great add-ons, that could continue to make it better and better...and not break the bank when you crash.

IMHO, I have to agree with helidude, that the CX3 is not going to be anything new. It's not gonna be a "step-up." but rather more of the same.

Now, I'll tell you, the coaxials did not prepare me for a real heli. It's a whole other machine...you will need patience, parts, and help from this board if you are to succeed. You WILL be glad, and she will reward your determination!

So being a mcx and a cx2 flyer ..Which one is better cp2 coming out soon or the 400.The money dosent scare me .I just want the right choise .or is this a coin toss there both good,I do fly my sim g4 alot and ive use the impala with training wheels which is close to that.I seem to do pretty good at hover and short flights ...Any more input is surley appricated thanks guys

Alright, I have had both coming from teh same position you have. I have liked my cp pro more, but have spent almost $500 on it from all of the upgrades. I am actually selling my blade 400 because I do not have enough space to fly it. The blade 400 also comes with crummy servos/gyro. But most likely will be easier to fly than the cp. and it comes with a Tight radio that you can use for all of you rc. (including you mcx+cx2)

IMO, do yourself a favor and skip the BCP line. I learned on one and it was a headache (but it did the job.) The B400 is a much better option (even stock.) If price isn't a problem....build up a better CP machine from scratch.

I have a Honey Bee CP2, which is nearly identical to the Blade CP Pro, and I'll augment with what HydroJoe said - skip the CP step and go for the Blade 400 or even a used T-Rex 450 like I did. The CP isn't total crap by any means, and I'm glad I got one to learn on, but it is twitchy as hell and you'll spend at least as much as the Blade 400 upgrading it to similar flight characteristics and still not have that DX6i radio to grow with.

So i hear the b400 is the way to go .I can get it for 400 buck new.Can some one here list the parts to up grade the servos and gryo to make it alot more stable .. part numbers or links ..i dont mind spending the money if it helps the heli out. .also whats the best battery out for this B400 .Thanks guys i do apperciate the help very much...

3 hs-5065mg (for cyclic)
gy401 gyro + the matching servo
Phoenix 35 esc (so you can program it to be what you want)
price: $200+

My OK setup
3 hs-65 mg
stock gryo/esc
hs-65hb on tail
price: $100+

Neccasry setup
4 spectrum servos
price: $40+

Another option to "new" B400 is to look for and buy one used that has already been upgraded with new servos and gyro.

I've spent $300 or less on used B400's that are fully upgraded with Hitec or JR servos and the Futaba 401 gyro...

Agreed - I was just going to mention the same. Craigslist *sometimes* even has helis and heli gear.

on this forum it looks like the price of teh b400's is going way down. It seems amazing that they used to be able to sell for $280 stock PNP. Now, you would be lucky to sell the same heli for even $180.

I have a few CX2's and a B400 they are a totally different type of flying. The CX2 is fun, and I plan on ordering a CX3. At my shop we have 6 CX2's, a B400, a Falcon 450, a walkera 3#8(POS) and a tandem skylifter. The CX2s are fun to just fly around in the office, but you are not going to fly a B-400 in the office. They are two totally different animals. If you just want to blow your bosses paperwork off his desk the CX2 is the way to go. If you want to blow his paperwork completely OUT of his office the Tandem skylifter is the way to go. Look at what you want to do, and buy the rite heli. I had a CPPro and I dumped more money into it that I would have buying a brand new Trex, so I am not a fan of those little CP birds. Those of ya'll that learned on them jump to a bigger bird and you will not have a problem with it. My B400 is great and it is stock except for the CF blades.

I would look at buying a new PNP for $280, though minus the receiver, if I were looking to purchase a stock 400.

Also, consider that a used stock B400 is competing against a used market of upgraded B400's that usually run in the $280 range.

That a used stock B400 goes for less than $200 seems to make some sense to me.

That's probably universally true, but so hard to do when you're not sure how far you want to get into the hobby. Of course, once it sucks you completely in, and it would appear it usually does, you've already paid the ferry man...

Also its hard becuse unless you csn try the heli before you buy it, (which you usually can't) you might not like it. Then you want to buy another one and another one and another one and and. What ever you get the point.
