Default Optic 6 W/ Spectra

I have a Optic 6 W/ Spectra that I plan on using in conjunction with a Hitec Electron 6 in negative shift for my Esky Belt CP. Since I'm kinda new to heli's is the Optic 6 the best choice? I won't be doing any 3D stuff, too old for that, but plane old easy livin" sport flying....oh yeah.

Any input would be great, and don't feel you'll hurt my feelings if you say there are better radios out there for the job.

Thanks.

The Optic 6 is fairly easy to program for a heli. The only thing I don't like is the hover pitch and hover throttle trim levers are way too sensitive. I put a piece of tape on them to keep them from moving . Now for your choice of recievers. If you are going to fly 72 mhz you should use the BEST receiver possible. Use a Berg 7 .All the glory of a PCM receiver without the lockouts. You get failsafe positions and more. Get a Deans whip antenna and cut the Bergs antenna back to about 6 or 8 inches and reconnect to the Deans. Mount the whip pointing back from a landing gear leg(not skid). Try not to be parallel with the boom. angle it a little one way or other. This works to the edge of sight. Never glitches but I occasionally spray a little silicone on the belt just because my Trex's used to. https://www.helifreak.com/album.php?...ictureid=14557
