Who would want to be without their TX for 3-4 weeks even if it is under warranty, this is a problem other than just replacing a dead LCD screen. I really can't afford to just keep a DX8 or a backup DX9 so that I can still fly. I'll just stay with my DX8 for a while and see if they get this sorted out, if its a bunch of bad lcd panels then they need to get it taken care of and get that problem solved.

EDIT: I use Phoenix 4 and can't afford to just purchase new SIM and TX.

I did the same thing.. I was PISSED, but now that I have it back I'm happy.

It's just a hiccup being part of the first batch of owners.

My DX9 arrives weds. I'm also worried about this. I carry a DX4 to work but usually use my good radio when at home on the big tv.

I'm not sure. I've used my DX9 with Realflight 7 since then, But I gave my copy of Phoenix 4 to a friend so he can practice. I don't want to test it out again with Phoenix. I'm in Canada, so everything takes a lot longer to get sent/received here.

Could you contact HH and ask if this repair will take care of the problem with Phoenix or if its going to be an on going repair proceed with Phoenix.

I would think that HH would want this taken care of since they have a significant stake in both Phoenix and Spektrum, not sure if they outright own both.

No one has reported a second failure here as of now. Just the 3-4 of you with the initial issue so far. Enough to know its not a fluke or specific to one individual doing something wrong.

I wonder how many on other forums, or those who who aren't on the forums at all have had the issue too?

I haven't used mine with Phoenix 4 yet and don't plan on it. But it worked with RF7.

Did horizon ever say what the deal is? I got my DX9 today but I really don't want to hook it up to my flight sim.

I have used my DX9 with Phoenix already quite a few times (from the first week the radio came out) and have had no issues so far.

I am on a pc (win 8.1) and i have started using Phoenix with the Original airwave software on the DX9 then the 1.01 and now 1.02. I originally installed and used Phoenix when the DX6i was the only transmitter i did have.
The Phoenix connector is on a USB 2.0 hub that is connected to one of the USB 2.0 ports ( i just double checked to makes sure that was the case as i also have 2 USB 3.0 ports on this motherboard)

I just had the same problem guys...I've had my DX9 about three weeks and used it quite a bit on the simulator with no problems. I then went and grabbed it tonight to use it on the sim and I go to start it up and the screen lettering doesn't pop up, but instead just a lighted blank screen. This is really bad if everyone is having this issue. I'm going to be calling Horizon tomorow and complaining about this and making sure that they know that this is an ISSUE and needs to be taking care of ASAP!

There are some instances showing up on other RC threads also, you can google it to find them. I have been really looking at this Radio thinking I may want to upgrade but the more I read about this the longer I want to wait.

Has anyone that sent in the TX gotten an answer about what was actually done to repair the unit. The firmware update states that there was a blank screen occurring on import and export which was resolved in the update. Is there a fuse being blown perhaps by a power spike on the usb hub, what are they seeing. I know that there are a lot of DX9s already out there but googling this you can see there are some issues even if it is a very small percentage there are enough that you can see a relationship. Wonder how many people have been using the DX9 with phoenix successfully like Duikje and how much time are the logging on the sim.

I am a fan of Horizon and Spektrum but I think I will be keeping my DX8 for quite a while longer and will keep following the tread to see what happens.
