I have an old cp pro that I have upgraded with a spektrum system with a DX6i and today I installed a GY401 futaba gyro. The esc and motor are all still the stock brushed setup. I set everything up according to the heli's manual on installing a new gyro. When I bring it up to a hover it does this funny dance with the tail that cycles over and over, 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3. It kicks the tail out to the right brings it back center in two stages and repeat. if I turn the gyro rate up in the radio it does the cycle faster. Even in normal mode is does it. I have turned the delay and limit all with nothing really changing. It just keeps dancing. Any ideas? Thanks for the help in advance!

The 401 is much stronger than the stock gyro. So you need to do a few things differently. Turn off the mixing pot on the esc. Set the delay on the gyro to full delay and set the limit on the gyro to 60-70%. Have the gyro gain in your TX around 68. This should get you in the ball park. If you still have a problem, let me know and we will go from there. .....J

Hey thanks for the help! What do you mean by mixing pot on the esc? Is that the gain or proportional? Someone else said to turn them both all the way down.

Mix pot adjusts the balance of power between the main and tail motor.

Edit: porportional is for motors. Gain is for gyro.
