Well, between your shirt, and your dog...
you don't have to worry about anyone stealing your stuff out of your vehicle. well, at least not anyone that's sane.

Keep your dog on a leash. An animal's behavior can become unpredictable too quickly. Things like a high pitch squeal from a bad bearing could turn things ugly right quick. One second all is well and next thing you know, Fido's jaw is flopping in the breeze. Read the safety forum on this site for additional insight.

Yes, I have a neighbor maybe 70 years old, and he finds my heli fascinating. (and I love him for that) But he always brings out his dog to watch.
Its a young dog, playing around all the time, but he says he has it under control. I find it really disturbing. 1) I dont know what the dog is doing when its behind me 2) if it jumps at me, I could crash my heli 3) what if it mistakes my 500 for a big toy? I used to pretend my pack was empty, and leave, but I felt really bad, so I told him the truth. Now the dog watches from behind a fence. I am so relieved, cause I am still learning a hover. My heli could just get a mind of its own anytime, and I would not have experience to controll it. I am getting to 4 meters now. Thats a long way down. Just dont wanna put anything at risk

Nice looking dog boys... I love animals. And i respect your buisness and wont comment on how you handle your animals. Others on this site should just try not to say anything and mind there buisness.

I could fix that problem for you... Im a miilitary dog handler/trainer. +1 for habituating your dog to gunfire. I fly every day at the kennels here but they watch from their kennels.. as soon as they hear the chime from the ESC they start going ballistic!

+2 on gun fire. My mutt goes with me everywhere and he is used to small arms fire, shop noise, welding sparks and he follows me around when im in the woods falling trees and running heavy equipment. I have trained him to to keep a safe distance and knows were to be. I think its more about the dog and how its trained than a blanket statement that dogs cant be at the field. I do however agree that there are people that bring there moron idiot dogs, kids and friends to the field that should not be there.

My Lab is to neurotic to bring around helis. He barks and chases anything RC. He's just to hyper really, i screw around with him tho. My mSR is fun to taunt him with , and my truggy keeps him in shape. I have a big yard that's fenced in so hes free to raom, but when i fire up a nitro, or the heli, he comes running strait over like WHat the HELL man!!! I WANT to EAT IT!! No Actually i just want to grab it from you run away, maybe chew on it, but most importantly taunt you just like you taunt me lol. He's a real character, when you chase him he plays ring around the rosie, hes pretty good at eluding me, so i need to make sure he never sinks his teeth into something expensive.
He got my mSR once, grabbed it right out of the air, i actually caught up with him before he could start the chew session, during the time he had a bad hip, just recently fixed with surgery, if he was in shape, i could totally kiss that mSR good by. I make sure hes inside when i break out the big stuff so he doesnt get hurt. |

What the OP does on his own land is his business, but we are constantly having to tell people at the field to put their dogs in the car or leave them at home. Dogs have very sensitive hearing, well above our upper range. Have you ever seen an otherwise sane and normal dog go nuts and chase bicyclists? It's because the bike itself is sometimes generating aggravating high frequency noise. Imagine the noise an RC helicopter generates that we can't hear. Couple this with the fact that no matter how well trained, a dog has it's own thought process. All it takes is someone showing up at the field with a smell on them or whatever and the dog going nuts and doing something stupid. Everyone thinks they have the best most obedient dog ever, when in fact the vast majority of dog owners have ill behaved borderline uncontrollable dogs that need the Dog Whisperer. I deal with it all day long, house after house. My job has ruined me for dogs.
