Default Dx6i or subwoofers?

I know this is strange but I need help. So on this next paycheck I have the option to get a dx6i or 2 10 inch subs for my car with blue neon lighting. And a amp. I currently have two SRs and a MCPX . Looking into getting a 450X. Do the dx6i's really help that much? I can get dx6i for $130 new or sub/ amp combo $175 used but in great shape. So which one should I get?

You should save your money and get at least a DX 7. I bought a DX 6i and found once I got into anything 450 and bigger I wanted more. I now have a JR 9503x(H) and love it.

Your mileage may vary...

Ah, to be young again. If I saved every dollar I spent on high performance car audio, I would have a few 700 size helis and full hearing in my left ear.

Now that you said that I'm actually bidding on a dx7 on ebay. We will see

Since you're going for the 450x. Sell the two SR's and buy the dx6i or dx7 and subs.
The dx6i is awesome with the mcpx and you don't have a choice with the 450x.

I bought the 450x. Then posted my SR on craigslist for $100 RTF and they picked it up 15 minutes after the add went live.

Wow that's awesome. I actually like my SRs a lot. I know most people don't. I won that DX7 on ebay for $143 is that a good deal? They said it works great only has minor scratches. It also comes with a ring for the cyclic . What would the ring be ? And charger and batts. So now I can move up in the world of flying helis

Cyclic ring prevents binding in the "corners". Most higher end new tx's have them as a programming option.

To be honest if you are serious about the hobby you will end up selling your Subs for parts, upgrades or new Heli later just save yourself sometime ya dx8 is a better way to go.

What kind of 10" subs? And what kind of enclosure? Stay away from bandpass enclosures no matter how pretty all the plexi and lighting looks--they sound like hammered dog butt.

When I was younger I ran 2 12's in a sealed enclosure, which gave very tight loud bass. But sealed is the least efficient enclosure, power-wise. If you'd like to stay energy efficient, look into having a transmission line enclosure built to the specs of a single quality 10" sub (a JL 10w3 would be just fine). You can get more bass out of one good 10" in a TL enclosure than a pair of 12's sealed, and it'll sound good.

FYI, 10+ years as a pro installer and my ears never stop ringing. I wish they had affordable heli's when I was younger. Now I want lights for my 450, glow sticks are getting boring!

From my experience as a man in my 20's and thinking similarly to the way you are thinking, I would save the money for a DX8 or a DX7 radio. Getting the subs is nice, but all subs do is advertise to people that you have money tied up into your car and they will break into your car and steal your stuff as soon as you are not around. I had 6 10" subs in my car and I ended up with a broken window and a book of CD's stolen from me back in 2003. Now, several years later, I would have put all the money into pursuing my hobby and not making my car's audio system louder and advertise it to strangers. Get the radio and not the speakers. You'll get tired of the speakers long before you get tired of an awesome radio. Trust me, I know.

I have never got tired of speakers, although I have reduced my level of bass.

Subs & neons are so 90s..... Get the dx6i or dx8 if u can spare it.. That will provide much more entertainment then speakers and lights and I use to be a car audio fanatic...
