Comments on gear material ?

I have recently maidened my 700 sized Vario Long Ranger with electric conversion of some old Heim mechanics. It is a 12s setup, with a Xera 4030-470kV motor (capable of 3000W).

On both occasions I melted the teeth off the intermediate plastic gear.

I was looking at getting a metal gear made. It is basically an inverted cup shaped gear with internal teeth. It has 40 teeth (Mod 1) and is driven by a (I think hardened) steel 10 tooth pinion gear.

I am aiming for a headspeed (same as rotational speed of the 40T gear) of around 1500rpm, so the 10T pinion will be doing about 6000rpm.

I am looking at either phosphor bronze or hardened steel.

Any thoughts on the wear of a PB1 gear driven by a steel pinion ?

Any thoughts on a hardened steel pinion driving a hardened steel ring gear, especially with regard to lubrication (remember that the ring gear is an open cup with the opening facing downwards) ?
