Default Five minute, GPS boom mount

Just wanted to share my 50 Cent boom mount for my GPS test. Its just a self adhesive wire clip installed backwards.

The part designed to hold the wire is concave and will fit nicely on any round boom. You just need a bit of double sided tape around the boom so things stay locked in place once the zip tie is installed.

Then just stick the unit to the self adhesive portion of the clip. Its very solid and secure.

Very nice, I saw this just after I had spent half an hour to cut and drill an old frame side to make a mount that bolts onto the boom clamp bolts. Would have been just as good as what I ended up with.

I did the same thing! It was while I was cutting a piece of plastic to fabricate something, that I realized I had a bag of 100 of these things sitting around. The concave portion fits the boom much better than the flat mount I had made.

This is only temporary for my test, but I'm sure it could be made to look much better by using a black mount and cleaning up the no slip tape on the boom.

Yikes! I guess you can't buy just one or a few at a time. I already had a bag of 100 so mine cost me less than a dime.......maybe 50 Cent total when you throw in the tape and tie.

Any electronics store will have them such as Frys or similar and avoid shipping, or maybe we can do a share program for anyone that only wants one.

Brilliant idea, thanks for sharing. Are you using the 19 or 25mm mount. Thanks

As close to 1" as possible. 19 is a bit small, 25mm or a little bigger is ideal.

Correct. Mine covers pretty much the entire back of flat part of the unit.

In my case I would like to boom mount the GPS but I think my sk-720 is to far away. My controller is mounted under my canopy, how long is the cable that links the two? I think I am about 12 to 15 inches away.

I can't remember, but I think it's about 15".

Awesome, I was wondering what I was going to do to mount the GPS unit on my 550.
This solution looks much easier and just a tidy.

Doesn't the SK720BL need to know the distance from the main mast?
And, on mine, the maximum distance was I could enter in the user interface was145mm aft (-145mm).

On my 600E, I could not go any further than the back of the frame.

If you have the KDE or Lynx main mast bearing with the X-frame between the top and bottom mounts, use gyro mount tape to attach the GPS to the X-frame.

Yes it does. Ive never noticed the distance issue, but I just tried using the software, and it appears that 125 CM is the max that can be input in either direction Not sure if there is some sort of real limit from a function standpoint, or if this is just a meaningless limit in the interface programming thinking no one would ever need more?

That's 50 inches, so how is your GPS mounting over 4 feet away from your main shaft on a 600 unless its mounted to your tail fin? The only thing I can think of is you are thinking its MM when its scaled for CM
