Default Bought a used SR and need help

My SR is in great condition. It just seems that the HH gyro is off. When I throttle up the bird it spools up the tail motor horrifically. I fly (try to) fbl systems and know approximately the tail speed needed for any given rotor speed. We have two 230s's and they are comparable in size. Please advise as I need this copter for my youngster. Thanks in Advance.

By spinning horrifically do you mean the tail motor is just spinning like crazy as soon as you put power to it (plug the battery in)? Or when you move the throttle up?

Hey Mikker75, Nighttrain is pretty much an expert on the Blade SR. A lot of what I know about the SR I learned from him. Im sure he will be able to help yoy out. Best of luck, and I hope you get your problems sorted out.

If the tail motor spools up to fast with the throttle then you have to adjust the pot on the ESC that is on the bottom of the SR from underneath the heli. In your case of the tail motor spooling up too fast I would try turning it down a little at a time til it is satisfactory. But the key to the whole process is that after EVERY SINGLE TIME that you adjust the pot you have to unplug the battery then plug it back in and re-initialize the ESC to save the new setting. If you don't re-initialize the ESC, it won't make any difference at all even though you adjusted the pot. You have to unplug the battery and re-initialize every time you adjust the pot.

Try that a little at a time until your tail motor is dialed in to where you want it. Just can't stress enough to re-initialize every time you turn the pot. A lot of people don't re-initialize and then wonder why it doesn't make a difference when they turn the pot. You have to every time.

Try that and let me know how it works out for you.

I also have a question on the SR .

Am I right in assuming that the tail blade spins clockwise? I;ve tried to watch the blade when I power down but can't seem to recognize the spin rotation.

I know that the tail blade of the SR, that the shiny side of the blade should be opposite to the motor for mounting. Then that would make the SR tail blade a counter rotating blade, (counter to what we use on our airplane models) right? The pitch on the blade would then be correct to offset the main rotor spin (counterclock wise) that induced by the main blades.

Which way is the model spinning on the ground for the flyer that started this thread?

My SR flies great (almost daily), but I never did learn which way that tail prop spins, but from looking at the prop, it must be clockwise when one is looking at the prop straight on. Great to see all the help to someone who's having problems with the SR.

The blade turns clock wise, at the tip of the tail blades you'll see sorta curved area on the end.
