Hi nightflyr,
Are those springs on the landing gear? Is that the "new gear"?
I was thinking of something special for landing gear as well, perhaps some relatively flexible carbofibre ones reinforced with some buggy-type shock absorbers to arrest/dampen the springiness. Maybe it's been tried?
best regards!

I make my own landing gear, no need for shock absorbers unless you plan on slamming into the ground.

Well with lousy weather on hand and being stuck @ work with the HVAC crew, decided to try a different idea for a set of landing gear.

30 minutes of torching and bending, and another hour for painting and drying in the oven.

Tested them up to 80 lbs, static load so a 14 lb helicopter will prove no issue to them.

Night, is it steel tubing that you've used or you're actually setup to weld aluminum in your heli workshop???

Actually, that is left over high pressure aluminum tubing I used to install the compressor air system @ work.

I didn't weld it, the landing pipes are pinned in case of damaged so that they can be replaced.

Ok kiddies....
It is time to see how much the 900E can get off the ground and fly around safely...

Forged a 28 lb lead weight...

Suspended it from the helicopter with minimum of swinging..

And for the glory...

Is that with a Castle ice HV80?

How many amps are you pulling to be able to do that?

I look at the photo and that chain-link fence between you and... I wonder what the neighbor thinks of this - does he ever venture into his back yard when you are testing what might be construed to be machinery of war capability?!?!

That gear looks robust to say the least! I've been slowly constructing my own custom landing gear, with buggy shock absorbers to dampen hard landings. I'll post a photo over in TREX600 pics when done.

Never test when people are any where around...

The landing gear was tested to 37 Kg so it can withstand pretty much anything I can put to it

For sure. From the photos you could suspect that a really hard landing might loose the Hero and crack or even smash other parts of the bird whilst the landing gear remained intact! The side-frames look quite delicate.

Never judge a book by the cover..
Those lower side frames are double thickness and laminated together
