Default Why shorten the tail boom?

This might be a stupid question, but if someone wanted to put 550 main blades on, would it hurt to leave the stock boom, if for anything else, for slightly better visibility?

Just wondering if shortening has some specific performance benefits when going with 550 blades on a 6s setup?

Yep, it reduces the inertia and increases the cyclic and tail performance. Matt Botos talked about it on the RC Today Show:

my fusion is 6s and running 550mm blades with stock 13 tooth pinion, 1100kv motor.
I am flying with the stock boom and seeing no ill effects but I also don't fly hardcore 3d
