Default stunt mode with DX6I?

Probably never need it but how do I put my MCPX in stunt mode with DX6I? Thanks; Don

Hi Don,

Turn on tx, THEN throttle hold switch on, and f mode switch on.
Bind the heli and let it sit for few seconds.
Then, throttle hold switch off.
And u will see the tail starts to spin.
Slowly move collective stick just above mid-level, heli will spool up.
I fly with stunt mode most of the time. It’s much more stable and better against wind.
And just remember to keep your fingers close to throttle hold switch. Just in case when something is about to happen, you can kill the switch to save your heli. If you pull down the collective switch, negative pitch setup will drop your heli so fast, most likely you will break something.

The mCPX generally will not start in stunt mode...

From normal mode, flip the F-Mode switch to the 1 position...

After you have used stunt mode in a flight, you can land and "soft start" should spool it up...assuming your main motor is in good shape

Stunt mode allows a lot of variation without getting too abrupt...you can change the throttle and pitch curves to better simulate scale flight, if that suits you

Thanks, Do you hold the th button in? I am confused because with the dx6i you hold the train switch on when you turn the tx on to bind. Don

Stunt mode has nothing to do with binding...

You use the F-Mode switch...top left of the DX6i to flip from Normal Mode to Stunt

Hmmm… I might be over react to ur statement but………... u already did the binding process using trainer switch in the very beginning when you first got the heli. U only need to do once, from now on u just need to turn the tx on, then connect the battery on your heli, wait few seconds, and off u go…. And when u done flying, first disconnect the battery on your heli, then turn off the tx.

When you flying in stunt mode, it’s no different from flying in normal mode. U just have to be extra careful pulling down elev stick. My fingers are very close to throttle switch when I’m about to descend. And as soon as heli is on the ground, I turn throttle switch on to prevent accidental stick movement.

When I first got the mcpx, my goal was to enjoy flying circles, and maneuver around tress and so on and not doing any 3d stunts. So there is no need for me to flying in stunt mode. But I quickly realized not getting full benefit of this heli without getting into more advance flying. And I truly believe mcpx is made for 3D stunts.

Don, since u r in stunt mode, try to learn how to do flips. It is so much fun doing flips rather than just flying in circles. I’m still not comfortable with all the orientations and cannot invert flying, but I can flip the heli without too much trouble. It is really fun …..

Don, you've got to be one of the most patient guys on HF...

My hat's off to you...keep trying and above all...Enjoy !!

Just a warning...the first time you complete a successful flip and are able to hover inverted...

You'll then know that flying R/C heli's is the most fun you can have without taking your clothes off

Not sure if this pertains to the 6i

With the heli powered off first
Check the pre setup menu when you set the switch functions (if applicable)

And inhibit everything there firstly (aux, gear etc)
Then check F mode menu and set F.mode to F.mode and Hold to Hold.

In the second menu after pre-setup (where you set dual rates etc)
Limit Travel for Pitch to 75% using collective to set both ends.
Set Throttle Curve for IU is set to 100% on all points
Set Pitch Curve for IU to linear from lowest to highest point so it looks like a perfect diagonal line.

Once all that is set, swash is level and pitch is mechanically tuned.
Turn on Tx, then enable Throttle Hold

Boot up the heli and switch to IU.
Move collective to mid stick (zero pitch)
Disengage Throttle hold for soft start

Use Throttle Hold if you get into trouble
Don't panic and chop collective or it will not end well

Usually a mCPX has trouble going from initialization to IU via soft start...

You can, however...use soft start once you have spooled then stopped, assuming your brushed motor has few if any issues

With 3 Mcpx helis v1 v2 v2, I've never had a problem with soft start after a full init.

Just gotta wait for the mains to kick in after the tail does its thing.
