Default MSRX Just Landed!

Went to local Hobby Town today as Dad needed some extra batteries for his BeastX Biplane. And low and behold, my eyes caught sight of the new Blade MSRX in there cases! Wow what a cute little bird!

We left the store and started heading home. With much discusion and very little arm twisting, we made a u-turn.

I will report what I think of my new bird, after Ive flown it in our auditorium this evening.

Some size comparison pictures between MCPX2, Genius CP, and MSRX.

MCPX2 and MSRX

Genius CP and MSRX

Some pics of just the MSRX. It look's like none of the head pieces will be compatible with the regular MSR as deleting the flybar deletes some of the shared parts. I think the only upgrade I'll do to this bird if any will be the Xtreme skids that I have on the MCPX2 as they are adjustable along the tubes and will probably work on this as well.

I am hoping that this will have more power than the standard MSR. If it does, it MIGHT be a candidate for Darths original Airwolf MSR fuselage. I'm also hoping that this bird will be TO ME what the Genius should've been for me. Still can't get the Genius to fly as advertised and it still has a gremlin in it. I'll probably give Dad the Genius and keep this little baby for myself.

Gave the bird a little hover earlier. Nice and stable, but can be quick and feels like it needs more room than MSR, but that was with the included TX.

Okay, so before heading out to the auditorium, I thought I would try this with the DX7. Paired it with the MCPX's model and settings and it was perfect! Couldn't be better! So, that is two micro flybarless helicopters on one TX!

I flew it last night for the first time. Yesterday was our auditorium micro electric RC event and I thought it was a great place to try it out. The helicopter was beautiful, it felt like it was between the original MSR and the MCPX as I think the Genius CP was trying to do. I also had my MCPX V2 with me as well, and the nice thing was that BOTH the MSRX and MCPX shared the same settings on the same model with the same TX. So, it was nice to have two helicopters and one TX. MSRX I could train orientation with, and MCPX I could master orientation with. I managed a good steady nose-in hover with the MCPX twice, and two beautiful circles with it in both directions.
The MSRX is a worthy companion to the MCPX.

Agree completely. Put about 3 batteries through (3 min flights with a 150mAH 12C battery - waiting for the 25C batteries to show up at the LHS) and feel that this really fits the bill. I won't fly the mCP X indoors as it is a flying blender. The MSR was fun but had some terrible flying characteristics. The MSR X seems to have quite a bit more power and flies more like the mCP X than the old MSR. So skills built with the MSR X should transfer directly to the mCP X. I used the same settings on my DX6i as for the MSR and did need to use some expo to tame it down a bit for my slow fingers.

I am ordering Xtremes MSR canopy and their tubular skids from the MCPX. Going to see if those two will fit this bird. The skids Im sure will, but not sure if the battery will fit. Also dont know if the MSR and the MSRX share the same canopy mounting positions. But figured its worth a try.

Is it just me or is it slightly bigger than the old mSR? Looks more comparable to the mCP X now size wise.

I might pick one of these up for my friend's birthday... I've been teaching him to fly and this looks like just the ticket for him to practise on his own. If it flies more like a CP in terms of control inputs that can only be a good thing for those looking to progress but keep the durability and slow head speed of a FP for indoors flying.

Its same size as MSR, smaller than MCPX. I think the flybarless blades gives it the impression its bigger then its predecessor.
It is fixed pitch, but feels very similar to MCPX, yet tamer and less likely to get in trouble with.

Is the tail rotor interchangable with the MCPxV2?
