Default 3rd Heli

OK... So I've been dreaming and researching and debating and trying to talk myself into a new Heli, especially the Diabolo. I've sold off all my old helis and just have my Logo 6003D and 7HV left. I also have $3,100 burning a hole in my pocket from all the stuff I sold in the last year.

Sitting here, I have a vBar, BLS451/251 servo setup, RX, BEC, Xera motor, etc... just need an ESC and a kit.

I've had my finger hovering over the buy button for a JIVE 120HV for a good price all day, but I just can't fathom what I will put it in. I can't come up with a Heli that will complement my fleet of 2. One that I will sub in for one of the others when I head to the field. I won't own 2 of the same thing again. If I crash one I will fix it. We live in the days of priority mail. No need for spares depreciating on the shelf.

Anyone have this problem? Have I reached a point of maturity where I've realized a man only needs two helis to love and take care of? Should I be happy to have a mega spare parts fund sitting in the bank? Should I be spending the time I used to spend building and selling helis taking my kids out of school for fishing trips instead (I don't like fishing, but they (4&6) do).

I think I may have reached the point of Heli zen... I just caught my thumb and my ring fingers touching.

I don't know man... Conflicted.

I am envious to be in a position to build a Diabolo, or perhaps a TDR. Personally, I came to the conclusion that a pair of helis is about right for flying them both all the time. However, you sound like me, in that, you are hankering for a project. I'm building a scale project for the building fun, but don't expect to fly it much. Just enjoying creating it.

Build it with what you have. You don't have to build it to compete. Just to have fun. Learning BX when I am a Vbar guy doesn't cut it. A Diabolo or a TDR would be an ultimate project IMO.

$3100 sounds just about right for the xxtreme, no? $2400 for the kit everything except servos included. You would have to upgrade those 451s to something stronger though.

You have a Goblin too? How's it compare to the 7HV? I was seriously thinking about one.

I wanted a Goblin bad. I know with the profile of the boom it would help my aging eyes with orientation. My flying skills are poor but I love the hobby
I was interested to see my first Goblins at SEFF and side in they have a very visible profile . I was really liking what I was seeing. When I noticed that head in or tail in the all but disappeared . Darn, I loved the look but I need all the visual clues I can get

I bought the Compass as I could see it better in general.

Getting old ain't for sissies

Tell me about it. I'm not that old, but am starting to feel it.

Screw getting old. I'm fighting it. I'm working out like a maniac.

I had a Goblin, sold it and bought a second 7Hv.
One of my concerns was visability as noted above, nose in it's gone and I have great vision.

Also didn't like the early adopter bit, seems rightfully so with the issues they've had though they seem to resolve them quickly.

Biggest reason still seeing myself as a newb pilot I wanted a second similar machine so when one is down due to crash or other issues I can pick up and keep flying the same feel.

A nice machine it was just didn't fit my needs.

I'm also debating on getting an E-Revo 1/10 Brushless truck. Everyone here drives too... No airplanes, helis and trucks. I drove a buddy's and it was kind of a riot, and runs forever.

Am I crazy? Anyone else have a car/truck?

I guess resale is decent should I lose interest in it.

Pretty wild...I used to run 1/10 trucks back during the NiCd Age. Running at a LHS which had an indoor dirt track. It was a total blast. But, it cost me as much as helis keeping everything running. But it was soooo much fun.
