DaMayor,
Yes, I do believe the man-cave is complete. I don't think I can get anymore in the room. The other walls (not seen) has guitars and amps. I may have to relocate the man-cave to the garage for more hobbies. Ted

Here's my Radikal G-20 A work in progress All new Metal Flybarless head installed and my ole trusty 500 about to be robbed of it's AR7200BX FBL to see how well it will work on a gasser,,, O'yea and one Monster set of oversized skids being mocked up also ... I live around a bunch of farm land, makes for some very rough landings if you look close even my 500 has Align 700 pro skids same reason, Less chance for Tips while trying to land or take off !!!

Just a pic of my canopy for now. Just finished the canopy tonight. Used some transparent metal paint on the windshield to make it a tinted red look. I only used about half the kit decals, and it looks just the way I want, not too much, but just enough. I am happy with it. Soon I will get a pic of the heli with the canopy on it.

Some more pics with the canopy on the heli. Stock Zenoah G20 engine with an Integy air filter, RJX muffler, and running Coleman fuel with royal purple oil. 620mm Mavrrik patriot blades, GY701, Hitec servos, Zippy 4200mah 2s LiFe pack. Running 13t pinion for now, but plan on trying the 14t and 15t to see what suits my flying better.

Looks good bustwdmp. Just a note on your blades. A couple of years ago I tried some of those Maverick Patriot blades (550's on a nitro 30 & 600's on a 50 nitro) and found them to be very pitchy.
My friend had a set on his Rappy 50 and they would cause some pretty scary flutter. So be careful with them on your G-20. |

I'll keep an eye out for any problems. I know I have read it before that they mav's don't like high headspeeds. I am going for 1500 to 1600 rpm on the head. More scale/sport style flying for me.

I actually found them to become very fore/aft pitch sensitive in fast forward flight at any head speed. Coming out of a loop could be scary as it would want to pitch back very agressively!

Thought I'd share my pics of my G30. For therapy ya know........
Not quite 2 gallons through the bird. Of course it was flying the best it ever has. I came out of a giant stall turn, heading straight down, leveled out for 30 yards, and it just nosed into the dirt at full speed. Crap! What the heck just happened? As near as I can tell the receiver battery came unplugged. All my other birds have the connection heat shrinked, but this one did not.... Dissected what was left of my heli and I had the engine, tail servo and gyro intact. Everything else was bent or broken. I have been debating whether or not to build another gasser or call this episode done...... I have been flying my E640 and really enjoying my first big FBL electric. The power is amazing. But...........the gasser is so cheap to run, flights are long, and hardly any battery charging (rx only) . I keep looking at that perfectly good engine on the bench and have decided that I am going to put it in a G30 V2 FBL. Here we go again.......... Sorry for the long read...........I feel better now.......

Sorry about the crash. I am sure you are not the only one that has crashed a heli due to a battery lead coming disconnected. Over the 30+ years I have been flying helis it has happened to me twice!!
I liked what you did with the canopy, not only different but simple and attractive. Your comments about the E640 are right on, there are a number of them at our field now, some on 10S power and others on 12S. For bigger electric helis, they are getting some pretty long flights or 7 to 8 minutes. Of course that is a bit less then 1/2 of what you would get with your G-20, and the battery packs hit the wallet much harder, bit they certainly provide a lot of "yee-haw" flying in that 7 to minutes. What motor did you have in your G-20?

Thanks for the canopy complement, Phil. I was going for clean and simple.
The engine in my G30 was the stock 231. Gregg

Great "after flight" pictures. It looks like it wasn't even breathing hard.
I just love the colors of that stock canopy.

Looks good but may I suggest that you review how you have posted the pictures. It may be how I have my computer set up, but all of them turned out to be very small, making it hard to see any detail.
P.S. You may want to post your set-up here: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...=525918&page=3
