i was in your shoes earlier this summer. flew a trex 450 for a while and then stepped up to the raptor 30(in hindsight, shoulda got the 50) anyways, id definately reccomend setting up without the governor at first. i dont have one and dont think ill put one on the 30. it takes a little fidgeting with curves, but its worth it. now i know that if i do put a gov on and it should fail, my curves are set up right. the servos sound good. i use a tp 5300mah 2s lipo through an sg reactor...bulletproof.

Sure no problem and yeah it is my regulator...

AR9100
JR DS8717 Cyclic
Align DS620 on throttle and tail
Redline 53
Quark Spartan
VR6010 Voltage Regulator 10A, 6V w/ 7.4 Turnagy LIPO 3000 mAh

I got the head and all the other fancy equipment from Quick UK. I didn't need all the bling but I was out of control at the time.

ok.so basically a 2s lipo 3000-5000 mah battery is needed.what discharge rate should it be?also with the futaba servos i should lower the volts down to 4.8-5.1v right.?guitarherowanab,iv'e read that a gov on the 30 is not really a big deal.so you are saying that with the right curves i really dont need one on the 50?please inlighten me.

My 6 cell 6volt 2700 mili-amp Nimh packs work fine, and don't require a voltage regulator if you run electronics that are designed for said 6 volt power systems.
