Default Ready to buy Kon 200, few questions

1) Is the latest firmware the only one that lets you adjust BEC voltage?
2) What firmware version is it?
3) Is it somewhere on the box/unit so I know I got the right one?
4) What should I run my BEC at for MKS HV servo's on my 800?
5) I remember seeing 90 degree ends for the motor wires in a post but cant find it. Who sells these?

Looking forward to adding another Kontronik ESC to my fleet.

1. 4.5 firmware and later allow you to adjust bec voltage with stick programming current is 4.5.1
2. Easiest way to tell is power it up de power it and look at the log file in word pad it will have the version at the top. Also ask who you are buying it from if they know as they should know when they got the kosmik from Kontronik .
3. Only number on the unit is the serial number but using that I could look it up.
4. I would recommend 8v and use a small 2s lips like a 450mah on a switch as a buffer.
5. Demon aero has them as well as peak aircraft if you want solder on ones

The programmable BEC voltage is available on earlier versions, just needs the progdisc to set.

+1 on the 8v with MKS servos and 2S lipo buffer pack with switch, works like a charm. I turn it on first and last for every flight at the field.

Remember to charge the lipo to 8v first and set the BEC voltage to 8v as it's defaulted to 5.6v. I had forgotten to set one of my K's and I believe the 2S caused the BEC to turn off or just source very little current due to external voltage exceeding the BEC set one. Fortunately, I spotted it in the logs before the lipo ran dry!

I'm not getting the bec voltage to change (I have a readout on my Tx). I went to mode 10 and waited for the double beep. I'm thinking it is a later version and just having an issue (user error???) Any help would be great.

Make sure you read BEC voltage when the esc is fully armed. It outputs default voltage until then.

Power up the ESC with the SD card installed. After initialization, wait a few seconds and power it down, remove the SD card and insert it a computer with an SD card reader. Browse the SD card and open the log file in any text editor. In the header section of the log file you'll find the firmware version number. The example below is the header section of a log file for a KOSMIK 200+ using Firmware V4.4.

Yes mode 10 is a mode you can do on it's own anytime.

Thx for all the help guys I did get it working (turns out my esc output on my Vcontrol was to low). I get all the arming tones and my bec voltage is where I want it. The only issue I have left is my SD card wont open/read. I did try to format and power up again but no luck. Not a major issue though. With my 600 & 800 using Kontronik (and more to follow) seems getting the prog unit is a good idea. Again, thx to all for the help

I believe there was one version of the firmware that had an issue with writing to the SD card. I'd recommend getting or borrowing a ProgUnit.

Not sure what tool you used to format the SD card, but if you didn't use the SD Card Formatter it's worth a try:

Yeah. 4.5 version can't write to the SD card. 4.5.1 fixed this

Hello, I just ordered a kosmic 200 from Esprit Rc. Came in yesterday.
I have only used Jeti Mezon ESC, which is easy to program via Jetibox, but this kontronic has me scratching my head.

I connected the master to the BD 3SX throttle channel, and the slave to the battery of the 3SX. turned everything on, with a 12 s battery.

i have already done the BD 3SX programming.

Now, i want to program the ESC.

Anyone have any advice?

for heli mode, when i programmed a linear throttle curve with done being zero, and also i set up the throttle trim to zero and the subtrim to zero, turned everything on, and the Kontronic did nothing, both lights 1 and 2 were red. Then i hit "press", and it did this beep:

beep, pause, beep/beep, pause, beep/beep/beep, etc... until it did 10 beeps. then it stayed all lights red. I did throttle up, and nothing happened.

anyone know what I am doing wrong?

The beeps are each mode in the manual it explains how to do this. see the sticky in this forum on how to program it.

yes. only need a fully charged pack when you go fly to make sure it sets the correct number of cells.

The 10 beeps you're hearing are modes. For the Kosmik programming, you want to first program Mode 1 which resets the unit to default settings, then Mode 4 (4 beeps), which is heli mode using governed headspeeds. The procedure can also be found in the manual. Here is a short video showing the process. This is all you'll need to fly. Mode 10 (10 beeps) is for setting your BEC voltage. There are videos on this as well if you search. If you want to program any further settings you will need to get the ProgUnit ($75) and download the latest firmware off Kontronik's website which I believe is 4.6 at the moment. Your Kosmik might require a firmware update.

Yes, you will need the ProgUnit and the newest software from Kontronik's website to update the Firmware. You can also program all ESC settings here as well. Here is that process. Make sure you pay close attention to the steps on when everything is hooked up and how - otherwise you could be at this for a while.

The Software can be found here.

Is there any place you can buy the heat sink with fan without the fan? My Kosmik gets a little warmer than I like. I don't think the would be needed.
