Default Can I use my X5 batteries in the X7?

Hi guys,

I've been running an X5 for a few weeks now and am loving it. Now looking at getting an X7, but wondering if I can get away with using the same lipo's for both my X5 and X7. I'm really not at the point where I want to get another size battery just now.

I'm using 4000mAh for the X5, but have read a few posts in here saying that 5000mAh are required to balance the X7 properly. Would I be able to get away with the 4000mAh lipos in the X7?

Thanks,
Harrow.

Harrow, have to get you down to SSSFA. I'm loving both helis and the 7 at the mo is using 5000's and the 4200's paired that i have in the X5.
Mine's got quite a heavy frontal setup and is slightly nose heavy with the 5000's mounted as rear as i can. 4200'S mounted all the way forward. 5000's weigh 810 g each and 4200's are 690 each.

Still early days for me to give a definative answer re pack usage as this rain has played chaos with flying time

I run mine with Hyperion 4200 packs. Not the lightest packs around but they are great power and very reliable. That being said, the cg is close. I don't know that I would try something smaller than 4200. When funds allow, I am going to be buying some of those gens ace 5300s

My friend flies both helis with same packs, turnigy 4000mAh, so you can use, if you have enough C-rating in those packs

Yep, I have the Turnigy 4000mAh. I got the 40C ones, and my flying ability certianly doesn't push them. I only run a medium head speed and fairly modest collective, so it would probably work. Would give me a nice light bird, and I guess the flybarless unit helps sort out a slightly off CG? Anyway, one way to be really sure I guess!

CG can be manipulated a bit as well, by positioning your esc, fbl controller RX pack/bec toward the front. Put the esc on the very front and this will help with light weight batteries, also the batteries have some wiggle room for adjustment of CG.

in the end, CG can be changed fairly easily, nothing is set in stone on where you need to mount things on these larger machines.

I ran my 4000 packs in my X7. They were lighter, but didn't have nearly the punch that my 30C 5300s have.

They weren't hot or anything, just didn't quite have the same grunt.

Definitely! I'm demanding a lot from my X7.

Gens are severely underrated. I run the 4000s in my X5 and they are equally as good as any overpriced 45C or 65C pack out there. 200+ cycles and still running strong.
