Default E7 Canopy why oh why with custon canopy pics

Just maidened my E7 and what a fantastic heli, flew great, sounded great and a compliment to the designer Matt Botos, BUT why oh why did he decide on the colour scheme being white? it was the worst canopy ive ever flown for orientation and i could hardly see the damn thing, so now its being sanded back and going to have a custom design to match my other custom canopies, see pic below.

I'm flying an E7 and E6 and have no problems at all to orientate with the superb canopy.

But some will, and I'm sure Synergy will offer custom canopies when the dust settles from launch.

The canopy you are showing looks very nice, but I too like 4cyclic have 0 problems with the original E6/E7 canopy.

Canopies like blades are a matter of personal taste. I'm proud to fly the stock canopy.

I've been following this heli as a new addition to my fleet and have to say the canopy is the only thing that disappoints me as well. Reminds me of my first Trex 600E that was all white and you had to put stickers on it. As previously mentioned, I'm sure as it's popularity increases, aftermarket choices should become available.

There you go, nothing like a little personal insult to add to the conversation. Just curious, does the Team Synergy in you signature designate you as a Synergy representative? And if so, is this what owners or prospective buyers should expect as a response when showing an interest or desire in what could be an improvement in this product?

lol, lighten up a little, I was joking.

A lot of folks enjoy the stock canopy color, which is pearl white and looks great in person, I don't think pics do it justice.

The stock canopy is light, the other paint schemes Matt tried always came back too heavy.

My light hearted reply was intended to be funny, but seriously, your the first I've heard having orientation problems with the paint scheme.

The canopy is a bit retro looking, if you ask me. Bold colors and busy paint schemes seem to be in favor these days...However, I don't have any problems with orientation when flying.

Count me as +1 in the camp that dislikes the stock canopy color scheme. It's one of the main things that's keeping me from canceling my M/A Whiplash pre-order for an E7. The only stock canopy I've had that was worse for orientation is the Fusion 50 FBL canopy (sky blue color).

There are plenty of choices for aftermarker paint schemes for the other Synergy models, so I'm hoping we'll see the E6/7 included as well.

Guys let me tell you with the popularity this heli is getting, I'm sure it won't be long before after market canopies are available.

Up close and personal the pearl white looks fantastic. The blue and green against pearl white are a fresh contrast to common, bold and busy paint schemes Steve was mentioning.

However, high in the air with the gray skys and white clouds as a backdrop, the beauty of the pearl is lost and what is left does not provide much contrast. On a clear day, with blue skys and bright sun, visibility is less of an issue. But not many of us do not live in California and deal with less than ideal visiblity, or we don't fly.

The canopy bugged me as well. But I only had to look at my current fleet, none of which are still running the stock canopy, to realize the solution. With the popularity of this model, it won't be long before Canomod or Fusuno have some other options for us with visibility challenges.

When i flew my E7 for the first time, my friend thought i painted the canopy myself. I guess it's a bit simple.

Not sure if I am right, but E7 canopy looks like it was designed by someone who actually has some experience in graphic/industrial design and can design something which looks elegant, can't say that about some abominations I often see, designed probably by a colour blind person.

Different people, different tastes, personally I like it, I am not big fan of naive, busy airbrush style which is so in fashion recently.

Yes, other schemes will be available.

I would like to say this.... Buy your helicopters based on the quality of the mechanics and not the color of the canopy. Canopy color can easily be changed, the mechanics are pretty permanent. Not more than 5 years ago helicopters came with blank white canopies and you had to prep and paint them. On top of that, a 90 size helicopter was between 900-1200 dollars. I use to paint all of my own canopies and I can tell you that it is not a fun thing to do. Painting is messy, expensive, and hazardous to your health if you dont have a proper respirator. I am offering a quality 90 size electric with extra parts to make it a 600 electric, with a classy painted canopy for an extremely competitive price.

Orientation - the first thing I teach in my 3d schools is to stop relying on the canopy for orientation. Your orientation should be based on angle of the rotor disk and tail boom position. The rotor disk gives you a much more precise object to determine which direction the helicopter is about to move. This is why myself and other pros do not need a canopy to fly. Your skills will improve when you learn how to focus on the helicopter as a whole instead of the color of the canopy. When you really become one with the helicopter you are no longer reacting to what the helicopter is doing, you are ahead of every single movement. It's nearly impossible to get that comfortable with your helicopter if you are only focusing on the canopy for orientation.

Thanks,

Matt
