Lots of good ideas here, looks like I've finally met someone more obsessed with the perfect set up than myself!
I will complete my build today and hopefully test fly this afternoon.
I have done almost exactly the same things you have, except I use a 401/Ar7000 combo on a plex tray (per RDLohr) in an over and under configuration with the shortened wires on the gyro..
On the canopy, I made a bottom plate extender rather than drill holes in the canopy. Links to the pics can be found here

Thanks for the nice words. Thats canopy mount is pretty sweet too. Looks like it will work well.

I added those after the fact since people have always asked me that. Glad you found them helpful.

Thanks much. I'm hoping so. My diligence has paid off in the past with my 450 and my 600. I seldom have problems other than dumb thumbs.

Thanks. I'd been putting out ideas in posts as I went, but I thought it would be helpful to collect them up in one post for future builders and for reference.

LOL. It swapped back to winter again yesterday but Copterklutz and I did take it out and maiden it with two quick packs until it started sleeting at us. It is definately sweet. Matt said he is going to get one and throw away his 450s. (kidding I'm sure)

Ahh great at least the blades got into rotation then and off the work bench
You could always head down south and seek warmer weather.!

Crazy hailstones. We had a ton of that here in the uk. Everyones waiting for bloody spring to start.

I went to uk heli fly in yesterday which was pretty (cool). Lot of crazy 3d.
I even got a flight in a real Hughes 500 which was a blast!
I kept looking for static mods on it and convinced myself it wasn't belt driven. No copper either!

Here's a picture. I think its American registration. He Paid £250,000 for it and cost £350 an hour fuel costs.
I asked the pilot what he did for a living and he said he flies real and model helis for a living, doing aerial filming!!!!! Bastard.

Just off to fly trex 500.,seem to enjoying that more than the 450.
71 un moded flights so far.

Anyway hope for better weather for you soon Rick, Sure its coming and light evenings so get those batteries ready.

Yer lucky, lucky ride cost me £20 for 15mins! ($40 I think) , pretty reasonable.(cost of a gallon of nitro here)

It was a V tail type and not T tail, 4 Blades.

As you say much help here on the fabolous freak for help and advice on all heli issues.

Really neat work by you Rick. You've set high standards now for everyone!!!!!

I'm going to service it at 100 flights and might review any mod issues.

Torque tube may be out by then.

Something different
Car Diesel fuel here now hit £1.22 a litre !!!! £2.44 a Litre!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy, Bring on electric lipo cars.

Great report Rick!

I ground a couple of mm off of the boom last night and it now fits perfectly. I am glad you posted this because I would have forgotten to remove the anodizing from the metal tail assembly if I had not read it here...

Thanks again,
Allen

Awesome job Rick and great write up!

So I remember a couple of months back you were thinking about a L500. Was this in addition to the T500 you just built or was it a one or another deal? Either way you inspired me to go clean on my L500 but I am just a mere mortal compared to your tidy skills.

Thanks Fil, I ended up with the TREX 500 for repair costs. The Logo looked awesome though!

Flew two more breakin packs hovering around my backyard today. Love it so far. Very stable and responsive. Nothing like a brand new bird!
