Swash to Main Grip Links- wear fast
I am getting maybe 50 flights on the ball links going from swash to main blade grips.
When they get loose i just replace as no way I want those coming off. The rest of the links hold up fine Anyone know of a stronger ball link that does not require replacing balls? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have between 1-200 flights on the QUK rocket links. I cant remember if i had to size the ball end or not though. Love those links as you can drill them out to whatever size turnbuckle or rod size you have.

If you flight hard like Mystic, stuff wears out. Hard to avoid.
Every 10 flights, I seem to find loose bolts, worn links etc. I've resorted to red loctite in a few areas, but I've found no cure for wearing out links. |

I looked but cannot find a substitute as those links are a different size.

How do you determine if a link is wearing out (or getting loose)? I assume the process is is not just trying to pull the damn thing off the ball. Do you wiggle it back and forth ACROSS the ball?
Thanks |

Perhaps it is time to move away from plastic ball links on these size heli's. I like the idea of a metal swivel type end that is bolted into the swash and grip arm, I think similar to a compass (I think this is the model) and/or a RC car links. This may require lubrication but may last longer and be more secure.
What do you think? Something similar to this but metal Found these, closer yet

Or just get a Goblin(yea baby) that has bearings attached to blade grips to a solid rod going to swash.

Thats something KDE needs to come out with, Goblin style bearing link to the grips, which you can screw a normal link rod into (and be able to secure it with a grub screw).

I dont know if it matters but I see a lot of pictures with the long ball attached to the link going up to the grip. Manual shows to use the small ball?
Doubt it would make a difference.Just a thought. Example of usuing the long ball vs the short ball:: : |

the small versus the long changes the geometry and will impact the FBL controller setup. Been there done that on another heli. Use the shorter ones for the links to grips and the longer ones to the radius arms.

This is good stuff! I have often wondered why we use the plastic ball links on the larger helis ... they have come so far technologically... this has to be one of the logical next steps. The precision and safety increase would be substantial. The purple ones are just about right...maybe a little heavy but in the right direction.

THey would be nice, but I was looking at them and this particular design would probably bind when at extreme AILE/ELEV inputs. Only way to figure this out is to try I guess.
But I still like this idea
